To RS or not RS?

To RS or not RS?
RS inspired? RS Styling? Or RS stick on badge?
Too many RS labels going around in the UK market imo, isn't it just a 964 with owner modifications to suit the particular individual? I thinks its great that people mod the car to their own requirements. but it is a modded 964 car none the less and nothing more...

smacks of trying to recoup costs on a project thats overcaptilised. Nice.....but given when u can get in that price range......why would u...just get a clean C2 for £16k and spend the other £23k on something tasty....maybe get Sifly to source 6 more E39M5's haha

I've seen it up close, its a beautiful thing and has had ££££s of work done to it
If I recall it was bought for around 25k from JZM in the 1st place as more standard car, then its had everything doen that neeeded to be done
Is it worth 40k? who knows, but theres no doubt its a lovely car

Looking at the spec, I think there is enough RS in it to justify sticking a badge on it; it's not like it's just been lowered, added bract ducts and put RS on the engine cover - that would be a bit cheesy. Fabulous looking car.

IMHO, it isn't an RS so it shouldn't be badged as one. That said, it's a gorgeous car that is more focused than a factory RS..... But it in the end it is a beautifully modified C2 and not an RS. I feel the same when I see '73 RS clones badged as an RS.

I don't find anything wrong with the ad, it clearly states exactly what the car is. A very well modded 964 in seemingly excellent condition. Maybe a bit on the pricey side. I'm all for well modded 964s but IMHO no matter what you do to a C2 it should never wear an RS badge.

Strange post Unkle? Lees car is outstanding and the market will decide price point...There are more important things to bother yourself with and this isnt the forum to undermine other people's hard work and enthusiasm.

I like the car!! Like many other 964's!! But its similar to an exclamation mark!! If its used too often it undermines the purpose of the exclamation mark, this in turn simply dimishes the use of the punctuation!! The RS is a special vehicle and the amount of ads (dealer or private) with RS in the title is the same as my example.
@ mf_rsr - Strange post, undermine, Really? Hard work and enthusiasm is never in questions when its carried out by the owner, i am simply making a post on a subject of the RS and using an example, please feel free to not post if you wish...

I have no issues with the advert so I can't see what the fuss is about. WRT to price, I read somewhere (probably on PH) that the car had been sold but the buyer couldn't arrange finance which implies that it's in the right ballpark. I doubt you could build something similar to that cheaper.
I reckon this advert is worse:

Can't see much RS about it bar the rear bumper. I reckon it would have sold anyway without the RS references as it looks a good car.

Lee agonised about putting the RS badge on his car for the same reasons highlighted in this thread but the fact is that you generate more interest with one fitted which is important when you are selling. Of all the tens of C2's/C4's currently wearing the RS badge, I would argue this car warrants it more than pretty much any other. For me, as a car to drive and ignoring difference in market value, I would take Lee's car over a factory RS any day. Lee spent big money on this car and and there were no compromises when spec'ing it. On track it is a weapon and feels like a race car - very stiff, very quick and noisy. This is a special car and I have spent a lot of time trying to persuade Lee not to sell it but he has a young family and wants something more suitable for the road that he can enjoy with his young son.

I love GTtwo's car and it is really a pity he is selling it, I enjoyed his report on the build and the doubts that every step generated on him, it has helped me understanding one or two things about what route to take on my own very similar project.
In my opinion the RS badge is just a minor negative detail on a car full of great details which make it unique on its own right.
