Default Jack stand question

I just recently purchased this set from crafts man to work on my car with.
http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/p_101...d=jack&prdNo=7

A creeper, a jack capable of 3 tons, and two jack stands each with a 1.5 ton limit.

Do you think this would be safe enough to work under?

It looks like it should work; I prefer to raise the car onto 4 jack stands, so it sits level, feel safer that way. I also made up some safety blocks from 2"x 6" nailed together, I put those under the car, just in case something happens, can't be too safety minded.
NEVER go under a car supported by the jack only.

That's a nice set. If you're going to jack it up by the engine, use a phone book or something. You don't want the jack pad to contact the seam of the crankcase.

Nice good to hear its decent, and speaking of wheel chocks.
If say I jack up the back of the car I should put something in the front of the two front wheels correct?

but what to use hmmmmm
I don't have any bricks or plywood hanging around.

Sir, I don't know if it is your avatar, but you make me nervous; like I said before, go and buy two more jackstands, you will need them sooner or later anyway.
First question: where are you placing the jackstands on the car?
Second question: How are you jacking up the car?

Yes, you need to chock the front wheels. You don't want the car to shift while you are jacking it. I use some home made chocks which were a 6x6 block of wood cut diagonally.

What I meant was if I were to jack up the rear of the car in the instructed points from the owners manual and place two jackstands I would have to put some kind of device to prevent the front wheels from rolling correct?

And yes I'm going to go buy two more jackstands tomorrow.

I never block the front wheels or place a jack under the engine for fear the jack will slip and punch a hole thru the case and it's unatural to compress the engine mounts. I use the jack points or the trailing arm as jack points or for the jack stands.
