had documented oil change every year/7k miles for all its 18yrs life ,majority 10/40 castrol magnatec with no major engine work other than gaskets,
think maybe 2 lady owners for 11 years + the original purchaser for 6 years may point to a relatively easy life & the cosseting continues with me
as for the rain Ray ? i hope so , been to manchester & back twice today to drop other car off then pick up , felt like donald campbell at times on the M60 , atrocious !!

You want a gauge like mine which likes to play games. Sometimes 4, sometimes 5. Should replace the sender, except I enjoy the game.

more specifically does low oil pressure signify a need for engine rebuild or is it only the leakdown test that can prove & for those who have had rebuilds did the oil pressure gauge increase significantly after ?

Low oil pressure simply indicates worn rotating parts, or Pump, crank bearings and the like. With one additional item to understand and that's the oil squirters which have been known to stay open and reduce pressure to the oilways, resulting in rebuild time.

Engine efficency using leakdown and compression tests are a more accurate way of gauging overal engine health, for items such as the valves and seats which can wear over time and use.
