What other non porsche cars did you consider before you bought your 964?

E39 M5. the throttle response. and the sound. understated looks. sometimes i wonder what could have been. but for now i am happy to DD my AC/heat/stereo/insulation deleted JIC coilover sprung headers to single muffler throated 964

Barry,
I do as well have an oddball fixation with swedes. My wife is actually the volvo nut. Her daily driver is a 300hp '04 V70R - 6sp manual AWD. The car is a monster and so much fun to drive. Her last car was a 2000 V70R in laser blue. I still miss that one. 2000 V70R

Mine is an Emerald, colloquially known as an "Olive".
I wanted a Laser, but they're rare as hen's teeth, as you know.
The R-wagons are a shock to anybody who tangles with one - and are almost completely invisible to cops.

One of my favorite parts of the 2000 v70R was the seats.
Back on topic: The passion that Volvo owners have for their cars, repairs and all is the same passion that I see the 964 owners have. The cars are not perfect but they just put a smile on your face and make you think, oh yeah this is a keeper!

was completely torn between the Lancia Delta Integrale Evo and the 911. Have a mate with an Evo II in white and love it. Still want one.. Rust and reliability are the only concerns. To the 911, I knew I wanted the original shape and looked at a 71' T but decided could be too much work, moved the timeline forward to the SC range and ended up at the 964 as the original shape, with most modern approach.

was looking for an old bimmer 850i before the 964 but the only ones in the state here were not in good condition either mechanically or cosmetically..but one i heard cranked..dual exhaust and dual straight 6's sounded sweet for a lug of a car.

several Alfa Romeos and then .... 964 C2 needs maintenance now and then and TLC but I love it (my wife does not, she can't get in or out in a decent way....)

Out of the above list, ive owned 2 and very nearly owned the other 2.
IMO, it depends on what you use the car for, i only drive my car for fun, a nice sunday ect;
So id go with the current 1, the porka.
But its a very close second for the s4, by far the most pratical high performance car ive ever drivin.

A few....
-E46 M3
-mid to late 60's Alfa Romeo GTV (stepnose car)
-Early to mid 90's Mercedes Benz 500E (it's a Porsche-Mercedes)
I still really want the Alfa but realized that I already have an older car (240Z) and just wanted something a bit more modern with good AC/airbags/ABS, etc.. I loved my old 911SC but after driving both a 993 and a 964, I much preferred the 964. It just feels like the best modern 911.

Well I sold my 1982 Collectors Edition Corvette and my
1988 Mustang GT 5.0 to put towards my 1990 C2 which still wasn't enough money
Decided to get a part time job to go along with my full time job to be able to save for the rest....
11 years later...I still have my Carrera...

nice selection. which is the favourite and why?
Best handling is the M3, I think its better then the C2. In terms of luxury the S4 is great. S2000 was fun for a little while, but lacks any real power. Most fun to drive has always been the 911 you never get tired of it. These days I am looking to get back into motorcycles, my achilles heel!
