It is. While of course the RSA is a bit less insulated than the standard model, putting in 100 freeway (e.g. zero effort) miles is taxing compared to the C4S. (And then there's the yellow car with zero rubber in it, no sound insulation, and seats that don't have really any padding...............)

Dont u start Dave!ha we are friends even if he does go to the dark side of the 993
I do sympathise for Mark and his bad experience with his 964. Not all 964s are that bad, im just sick of people (not pointing at Mark) but then may be my uncle and Co. scruntinizing the typical stigmas the 964 have, does not make it a bad car. A tiny bit of oil coming out of a 20 year old car just seems a no no or bad news for these people. If a 993 becomes 20 years old or more and the mileage climbs to 100K+, im sure there will be problems arise on the joints of any model like any oldy would!
Dont get me wrong though, the 993 as mentioned earlier is a great GT car, its quieter, comfier, quicker and refined model, with the air con that works, less oil leaks, and a bigger ***, but still the 964 is a far greater car for us youngsters wishing we lived next to the Nurburgring!
I tell you what, dont even go there with a 996 (not for a big debate;-) because i can guarentee a 964 thats done 100K+ miles is more robust than a 996 with no oil leaks and more refined. All I see is old boxsters and early 996 engines out in many Porsche specialists. Ive had a brand new boxster S with its engine go pop, and a new engine change under warranty, doesnt that say it all? I cant explain it fully nor stress the feeling you get when you drive a 964 compared to the later cars when pushed on the road or track.
After all the Shpeel, what im trying to say is if you progressed and have owned a 993, then a 996 and the lata you will realise what a great car a 964 is;-) And the lata are less exciting! Thats Nski's view!
Geee, I must be loosing it, cos it seems like im a mad 964 Fan!
Sorry for jeopardizing your thread Derek!

Derek, dont get me wrong the 993 are great cars. But I guess when you go from a 964 to a 993, eventually im sure you will return back to a 964. In my view, they have more of an edge with its shape, its agile chasis and presence. The 993 seems to be more grownup, mature, more refined clumsy and less look of a racer.
The only other car that I have kept all this time has been my 993 C4S. The 964 C4 I had (I used to run the Complete 964 website at which you can see my ex 964- unfortunately since crashed by a subsequent owner and made to look like a mix between a 964 and a 993!!! http://members.rennlist.com/complete...page%20964.htm) was a wonderful car, but my personal opinion is that the 993 was just marginally the keeper....either way you cant go wrong.

Well, i'm on the edge so to speak. I took a deposit on the 964 and the new owner will be picking the car up tomorrow night. Going to look at a C4S on friday!

Funny thing is, the husband in that photo is long gone, but she still has the car
Best of luck, there are a few good ones out there right now!
