BBS Magnesium Motorsport Rims
Just curious to know if anyone is running these on their car in a 17" sizing?
I have a line on some gold centres and would love to see a photo of some 17's on a 964 before I buy them for future use
The 18's look great but not sure if the 17's will look as good.....
Cheers

Remember the Cup series for the 964? It was run on 17" wheels.
I would prefer 17" to 18" for more confort and no loss in performance, at my level at least.
Please buy these rims so I can stop beatin myself over them!

Cam,
Be sure you arrange to have the centers Zyglow'ed before committing to buy them.
Magnesium race wheels are somewhat prone to crack after such use and they are not inexpensive to replace.

I run 17" BBS Motorsport Mags on my RS. They definitely don't look as good as the 18s. On the 17s the front wheel centres stick out proud of the rims which looks a little odd and makes them very easy to kerb. Aesthetically they are quite sensitive to getting the wheel spacers just right - if they are pushed right out to the fender lips they do still look pretty cool ! The weight is very similar to the factory RS mags, and much lighter than the alloy Cup 1s.
The original owner of my wheels had the centres sprayed silver which personally I don't like as much as gold, so I intend to revert to gold whenever I get them refurbed.
I've been trying to attach a picture, but to no avail. Will upload from computer at home when I get a chance.

The problem with this is they need to be stripped down to bare metal to properly inspect. Radiographic inspection will pick up on heavy cracks but won't help to let you know if there are any stressed areas that will weaken the wheel.

I have a set of 18" set up for a 964 Cup (8/9.5") and the correct spacers.
These were built using the thicker rim halfs (3/4mm if i remeber correctly) to handle the curbs at Walkins glen and other NE tracks. Which makes them good for the street as well.
I would recomend having the outer rim halfs polished and of course crack checked (nothing is visable).
They are sliver but can be painted, etc. by Steve or Geoff as well as crack checked
Forgot to say that i would like $4,000 for them with the PS2 tires (or i can shuck them for you), they include the center caps as well (dummy center locks from Carnewal)
