Default Should my car have eccentric bolts for camber adjustment?

I recently installed my PSS9 coilovers and noticed that like many car's I've worked on, the upper of the 2 Strut bolt locations (that attach strut housing to spindle) are slotted to allow for an eccentric bolt adjustment however instead of an eccentric bolt there is a standard bolt doing the duty in my car.

Did the previous owner ditch the correct eccentric hardware?

This is for the front suspension obviously.

The bolt you are talking about is really an allen bolt with a round head and for good reason -There is an adjustment tool that slides over the head of the allen bolt that is eccentric - the adjustment tool has a large nut shape which allows you to twist / rotate the tools which moves shock in or out and adjust the camber. Works against the flange on the shock lip. Tool is standard P part and can be ordered for about $30 - If you need picture let me know -

Gus, is this Porsche tool needed for the installation of new front struts for alignment of camber? A picture would be great.

Thanks,

Dan

I have had my camber adjusted without the tool - but it just makes it a lot easier to adjust with the tool. The bottom line is that to adjust the camber you need to be able to move the top allen bolt in or out to some degree to change the camber setting - If you are doing yourself then the tool is great - if you are taking to a Porsche dealer, they should have the tool - but, may not - I bought one and keep it in my car - Will take pick and send soon, am in office now so can't get to.

Thanks Gus, I plan on installing a set of JIC coilovers myself in the future and this tool sounds like a must have to make the alignment easier.

Gus this makes perfect sense. I swear I starred at it for 20 minutes wondering why the bolt didn't have the feature built into it. Typical Porsche genius engineering to shed a few grams, I love my car more now.

Now where do I get this tool?

By the way people, DO NOT BUY from ebay seller ZDMAK. I paid for this tool on 6-23 and got the wrong tool, then they promised to send the correct one and it simply never came. I contacted them and they said I need to look for it.

I have been remiss at posting a pic - Here is the OEM tool that I purchased for around $30.00-
Fits over the allen head, then you rotate to adjust chamber
