Default rocker panel clip ???

I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem? I took my rocker panels off on my 91 C4 this weekend to replace the seals, etc. I replaced all of the white(male) clips but not any of the red (female) parts that are in the body. On both of the long rocker panels, I can't get the new clips closest to the shark fin to clip into the red receptaccles on the body?? All of the other clips/receivers along the panel seem to be fine, but the last one will not snap into place!!! really frustrating, I'm going to check on getting two new little red receptacles, any other thoughts?? Thanks, Mark

The clips get cracked or break off or the tab on the rocker crack I put all new ones on and still had a few that just didn't hold like they should, my solution was a dab of silicon sealant strapped down with duct tape for 24 hours. Holds firm and is still removeable when needed and no harm to the paint.

When i replaced mine I replaced all of the white male clips and every red female clip except the one closest to the shark fin because it looked ok. I have the exact same problem you do that I can't get that last one in.

I tried to reuse the red recepticals too but had trouble getting the clips to snap. When I used new ones, they snapped on. I'd suggest trying to replace both the male and female parts of the clips.

I was lucky and was able to reuse the red female receivers, but a couple of them were a bit hard to snap in. I have all new ones just was lazy and didn't replace them.

Next time all of them will be replaced.

Clips - 999-591-916-40 Qty 12
Red female - 999-706-160-40 Qty 12
Shark fin clip (with screw) - 999-507-373-00 Qty 6

I purchased some extras of each, in case I broke any during installation.

Note: If you have a wide body, then you increase the clips and female quantity to 14 each.

I had the same problem to but solved it easy like this. Put a fresh female plug in the hole, then mount the male plug into the female so it clicks. Then press the rocker panel so it clicks onto the male plug.

Ive had the same issue with that last clip closest to the shark fin. Be very careful pressing that one on as the body panel there can be dented with to much force. Ask me how I know (and guess whats being fixed this week at the body shop).

Try starting with the rear most clip and work forward.

I hate it when that happens "collateral damage" I over tightend one of the plastic nuts that fit on the underside of the rocker panels (tightens on the stud that's welded to the body) we'll it was welded to the body!! Note to self, plastic parts dont need to be that tight!!
