More plate-juggling progress in Panelcraft today:

The brakes have now been successfully bled and the spare wheels fitted to get the car off the lift.

In preparation for Mike decalling the car tomorrow Leigh has finish polished the exterior panels. Obviously the masking tape is there to protect seals & joints from attack by the buffing wheel. The car was steam cleaned afterwards to remove the residue but will not see polish before the decals have been applied.

Finally, Phil had the show wheels hung up in the booth and was hitting them with the silver basecoat (to be followed by a ceramic laquer topcoat).

Ah ha! Great spot there Jamie.

You probably won't be surprised to know that the helmet is one of Robin's little lunchtime projects which makes a refreshing change from his usual Dalek activity.

Mike arrived this morning bang on time to start with the race graphics.

Are we all getting excited yet?

At close of play Kermit looked a little more "dressed" for action & Phil also managed to finish painting the wheels.

Colin,

Looking good. Did you ever contact http://www.dmsb.de/automobil_motorrad.html?mid=28
as they can give you Wagenpass info on your chassis no. They don't have copies but they can tell you registered owners in Germany for the car. You might be able to confirm race team from what they tell you.

Worked for me.

Colin, I hope you've sent a link of this thread to Olaf Manthey! He should get tears in his eyes :-)

(almost) a shame to see that beautiful paintwork covered up - graphics look great though!

Oh well, whatever floats Robin's boat .............

Look forward to seeing the green beastie in the flesh on Friday ! I hope you're going to change the steering wheel eventually, it looks really cheap and aftermarket (though may be "period correct" I suppose ........... ?)

Do we have objective proof that this is indeed the championship winning car? There was discussion about it being "the" car or another green one.

Nice work no matter what!

Some of the decals look to be a two or three stage layering process... a steadier hand than mine would be needed!
