Default Oil Change to Brad Penn - Less Leak, more Burn

Recently I changed from Redline 20/50 to Brad Penn.
After 6 months running Brad Penn I've noticed
I leak less but burn more. Anyone else with this observation?

I am conteplating this change as well. Albeit Mobil 1 to Brad Penn.

Are you still using 20w50 for Brad Penn?

I agree with the "less leaks" with BP, but I did not notice any more burn rate.

Switched to Brad Penn in spring. Yes, have notice more burn. Adding half a quart every 1,000 miles. With old syn, much less. During check last Dec., valve guides were in great shape.

The '91 I just bought has been running Brad Penn 20w 50 for quite a while (previous owner was a fan). It does burn some, but I haven't noticed any leaks (knock on wood).

Just out of curiosity, why would you use something the manufacture doesn't specify as correct for the car, or have I missed something glaringly obvious?

My wife suggested she try a bit of Brad Pitt in her car. She said it would burn and most probably leak as well.

I understand,

Do Porsche or the leading oil companies (not Brad Penn) specify this in a TB or other?

just keep in mind that we are putting in TODAY'S brew of oil in YESTERYEAR'S car. The present oil rating indicate that ZDDP is not at the levels they were 20 years ago. This is due to new car warranty requirements of 10 year Cat life, in which high levels of ZDDP could lessen its life.

The old oil specs had enough additives that they lubricated guides and "conditioned" gaskets.

I wouldn't expect a TB issued today for a 20 year old car, because the new oil "works", it's just that some of us have good luck using an oil for which the car was initially designed.

So, in other words, we're taking advantage of development in technology

Noticed the same thing myself the other day. Didn't think much about it until I saw your post. Interesting.
