to those of you that followed the post regarding my best friends son christopher snowden who was a marine and died last saturday, i just got back from the memorial service tonight.
it was a very sad emotional experience...any of you with kids would understand the effects of losing a child...i couldn't keep the tears from flowing and my friend and his wife are devastated.
for someone like myself who has never been effected by a tragic death of someone in the military, it has really opened my eyes to the courage and brave qualities of these young men....
the marines, along with the police and a group of 30 ex-veterans who ride motorcycles and volunteer their services, accompanied the body from the airport to the church...the golden gate bridge was closed while they crossed the sf bay.
these men consider one another brothers, a team that lives and dies together, never to be forgotten....
my friend greg asked that i take pictures of the ceremony...i thought i would share a few with the fellow rennsliters who have followed this thread:

William, deepest sympathies to all the family and friends affected by his death. Your pictures are very moving and you captured a somber and solemn event skillfully and tastefully. thank you for sharing, and reminding us people die for our freedom.

Words cannot describe the pain of his parents. There is nothing you can do except be there when they'd like to talk. Your thoughful photos are a reminder of a debt ther is no way to repay.
I wish I could thank them for their scacrifice.

Wow, my heart sinks when I hear news like this. I cannot even begin to describe how inconsolable this must be for his parents and loved ones. RIP. I always tell my children how people die for us all to have and maintain what we have now... Freedom! So sorry !
