After owning mine for three years the only thing I do wish my Targa was ordered with is the Sport Seats. The regular seats are fine for normal driving but once you get into the canyons and really start hammering through corners you have to make a concerted effort to keep your body in place.
Having said that, for a 30 year old car I can’t believe how well it drives and how solid it feels.
Looks great. Can't beat slate grey either on a 964!
Have Waldemar in Germany make you a set of sport seats. Not cheap but an amazing upgrade. I had a set of softback sports seats made for my 993.
Wow that’s tempting! I would have to find a pair of donor seats and rear seats too as I would want them to match and also keep the originals. I have a couple other mods ahead of it but definitely on the list.

If you ever decide to do the sport seats I have a pair of rear sport seat backs not in use. They need to be recovered but you can see the larger bolsters.

Aren't the tan seats the newer seatbacks that have the release button on the top?
This is the first that I've heard that there are rear sport seats that have larger bolsters.
Are you certain about that?

These tan seats have the red pin lock on the bottom not the button on the top. You can't see it in this picture because they were missing when I got the tan seats. I bought new hardware and red buttons ($50+) and then found the black ones that match my current interior. The tan backs are leftovers now. I should have returned the hardware as I never used it.
If you look at the two seat backs you can see that the inside bolster is bigger on the tan seat than on the black one. The tan seat carpet had "Turbo" script in it.
Hope this isn't too out of line. I'm posting the before of my Targa now. Hope to have the after shots in about a month. First step is the engine, suspension, rear bumper, back interior, and wheels. We'll see what it looks like and go from there.
Here's the current after shot. There are still some details to work out - including the Targa bar - but it's nice to have it running after 10 years.
I attended a really great event yesterday called Zuffengruppe 3. It is - as you might suspect - the 3rd time this event has occurred and it is a gathering restricted to air cooled Porsches. This year the event was closed to the public due to Corvid safety concerns so I think it was limited to 100 cars and 200 total attendees (driver plus 1 passenger per car). Cars were "invited" based on the car and/or story about the car. It was not billed as - nor did it come across as - an elite event but there were many spectacular cars present and lots of great and friendly people. Once I was parked and looked around I was feeling my Targa was very pedestrian next to quite a few elite cars like 356 Speedsters, coupes and cabs, air cooled Turbos, original long hoods, rare late air cooleds like RS Americas, 993 Turbo S, Carrera and 964 Speedsters, expensive restomods - including a Singer, and a general collection of beautiful, well loved - but driven - Porsches. As I walked the event I realized something interesting. There was only 1 964 Targa - mine. It wasn't the only "one of" car there but I was surprised to be among the single car examples present. My old parking lot "barn find" got reasonable respect even as I was noticing spots that still have 10 year old dirt present. The car is a work in progress and based on the drive to and from the event on a perfect day for a Targa topped car - progress is good so far.
That tells you how rare they are. I would like to hear about your 'Parking lot (barn find) story on this one. Slowly but surely she will return to all her glory. Car looks good parked on the lawn. Keep it up. #PorscheON!
