Default Wheels for Silver 964

I've gotten interested in updating my wheels from 5-spoke cup wheels (also silver) to a black center wheel. I guess it seems like I have too much silver. After reading all the wheel sizing threads, I want to stick with a 17" wheel, although that limits selection. After a good bit of searching, I came across this wheel, an HRE C70 from Wheel Enhancement. Kinda pricey though. I would get it in the 7.5 and 9.5 widths. I was wondering if by chance anyone else had gotten this wheel for their 964, particularly if another silver 964 had any pic's to show what it looked like. Any comments on the HRE wheels in general would also be appreciated. Or any other black center wheel suggestions too.

Thanks!

Mine are not as dark as those but similar style so it gives you some idea. Should look good on your car.

Thanks, Neil. Your wheels and car look great. Can you tell me the maker of your wheels? Cheers.

Default Info on HRE wheels

I asked Wheel Enhancement about weights for these wheels that I'm interested in, and got a prompt reply with what appears to be factual information.

He said "For your application the HRE C70 in 7.5x17 weighs about 17 pounds 10 ounces and 9.5x17 weighs about 18 pounds 4 ounces. The wheels you are using now (7x17 and 9x17 Cup 2's) weigh 20 pounds 7 ounces each front and 27 pounds 2 ounces each rear. "

The HRE's seem very light to me and I was wondering if others would think that also, perhaps raising the question as to their strength. Comments?

Thanks.

I really like any of the HRE C wheels, they look great. CCW also has a new steeped lip wheel http://www.ccwheel.com/files/wheelpr...ay.php?id=LM20

Thanks, Daryl. I looked at that site, but I didn't see an option for black centers, which is what I am looking for. BTW, the price quoted was $3400 for the HRE C70 set. Does this seem quite high or not that unusual?

Oops. Just scrolled down to the back center option. Looks good. Thanks.

FYI - Just found out from CCW that the LM20's are not made for a 130mm bolt circle - that is apparently too large for them. Fella there said the LM20's were designed for "smaller cars". The only 17's they make which are suitable for the 964 are the "Classic" series.

Steve, Why not paint your Cup II's? Nice, five-spoke design, lightweight, priced right!

Did BBS LMs exist in 17" for our 964s?
