Ok so I installed the gpipe when I got home from work. Literally took me maybe an hour.
-Sprayed the bolts with WD40 last night
-Sprayed again tonight
-Loosened the bolts on the back clamps
-Took off the rear right wheel and jacked it up
-Sprayed the two bolts on the inside holding the muffler up attached to the frame
-Muffler came out really easy and was very heavy
-Attached g-pipe to the frame and then matched up the clamps from the primary exhaust to the G pipe and clamped down
-Lined up the exhaust tip and then tightened it down
Started her up and oh boy the groan was quite different. Nice mellow rumble.
I must say it is much louder and not sure if i will keep it on, but I guess gets some getting used to. Really not so much difference at higher rpm's but at idle much louder. Also almost drowns out the nice sound of the high reving engine.
Any other people ith a g-pipe and kep it or took it off?
I installed one and couldn't get if off the car fast enough. Didn't care for it. I will do the primary exhaust, which I think is a much more "motorsports" sound, at least to my ear.
have you done the primary yet or heard it? I have not and must say not sure if I am thrilled with the g pipe sound.. at least it only cost me 60 bucks..
your tbh my cup pipe is that the same thing just a brand? sorry just learning. Not sure if too loud just different.
The cup pipe replaces the primary (first) muffler, the g-pipe replaces the secondary muffler. The g-pipe gives more sound, the cup pipe removes weight off the rear.
Let me ask you guys a question I installed the g-pipe and i was just outside to listen to it again and noticed on the rear bumper some brown spots almost like heat melting plastic paint has some brown on it when I look at it with a flash light.
Really unsure if always been like that or not. It is reall a few inches like 6 away from the tip almost behind the priimary exhaust. Does a g pipe make everything else run hotter? I touched the bumber and is warm just warm. Felt inside the bumper but there is a heat shield so that was warmer or maybe hot. i can touch with my hand and hold there. Around the tip it is cool.
Just concerned that I am melting my bumper but the g-pipe is really away from the spot. It might of always been that way. i know the middle on the bumper was repainted by prev owner. I guess just concerned because i installed the new g pipe.
I didn't find the G-Pipe to make a temperature difference. You might check that you don't have an exhaust leak at the clamp after the primary muffler (that sounds about where you were describing). Hot exhaust blowing out that clamp, might cause problems on the bumper cover.......
When you removed the secondary muffler and put on the G-pipe, did you swap over the "doughnut gaskets"? It's easy to miss this and without, the G-Pipe won't be properly sealed.
I thought I remembered reading where the best set up was the cat bypass combined with the G-pipe???
But it seems here that many folks like the primary muffler bypass?
I'm kinda bummed, just ordered the cat bypass and g pipe from Dansk.
yup put the metal caskets inside. I think me just finding something from the past. It is wierd you can't see anything in normal light just the flash light.
