Bothering sound from the engine.
Gonna try to explain this as best as I can.
When my car is at standstill without stepping on the clutch, there is a knocking sound coming from the engine.
It's really worrying as it sounds like something is about to break...
However, when I depress the clutch the sound goes away.
In the first and second gears, when the clutch is depressed slightly and the car is moving at approx 10-20KM/H, knocking sound is still present.
Local mechanics say, Flywheel's housing, lining and bearing needs replacing, but I'm having trouble identifying what they are to order parts online.
Anyone?
Any help as usual, is much appreciated.

The dual mass fly wheel is two metal parts with rubber in between .
When the rubber goes bad the two metal parts start hitting each other .

Oh boy, doesn't sound promising.......
Can this rubber in between be replaced? Or should I have more to worry about (replacing it)?
All these alum/lightweight flywheels that people replace in their cars, is that a viable option for me as well?

Wolv, Having just dealt with the exact symptoms you are describing, I have to agree with Indycams diagnosis. Dual mass flywheel. The rubber between the metal plates fails and that's what creates the knocking sound. Have your mechanic take a look, but I would say you need to have the flywheel replaced.

If you change your flywheel from dual mass to single mass you will also need to change your pressure plate and of cause the clutch plate and while you are in there, make sure they also change the fork pivot bearings to the new and updated style. If you go single mass the RS style assembly seems to be the #1 choice. No need to change any housings.

I opted for the new updated replacement parts. A new dual mass flywheel and a complete clutch kit. If you have to drop the motor and transmission you might as well replace all that you can now.

I'm gonna need some serious help.
Since those parts aren't available to me here, I'll have to order them from the States.
With that said, I do hope to get everything and not have to order twice.
So...............
1.) Can I get any kind of single flywheel, as long as they fit the 964? (I read that cars from dual to single might face stalling issues?)
2.) I'll need to get an entire clutch kit?
3.) Steen > pressure plate and of cause the clutch plate and fork pivot bearings to the new and updated style. < Mind directing me to some?
4.) What else do I need?????
and finally, 5.) Any recommended stores where I can get everything?
OR should I go for something like this >>> http://www.patrickmotorsports.com/part/970/

The fidanza flywheel is maybe to light for the normal day to day driving .
There is a middle weight flywheel for your car , iirc .
I think its the same weight as the stock 1989 single mass flywheel .
The 1989 came from the factory with a mid weight single mass flywheel .
