Ahh............ yea my car is untouched basically. So it's an LuK wheel huh?
Getting a guy to open up the car to see what parts I need. Will report back maybe in a week.

In the meantime, would love to hear other people's opinions.

There is a way to determine what type you have without opening up, by looking in one of the inspection holes and the method used in securing the starter ring. I think Luks ring is welded on as opposed to bolted on or something like that, but you'll likely be opening it up and it will become obvious at that point by the stampings. You may get lucky and only have to replace a small part like a bearing or clutch, in the meantime try not to run it in this condition to avoid further damage.

Yeah I'm not driving it anymore.
I'll try and see if I can avoid getting the whole thing replace, I'd prefer that definitely. But if other stuff needs replacing, I might get everything changed at once.

Thats the price for a round trip ticket on Philippines air .
I would offer to sail it there but you might not want to wait a year for me to get there .

Hahaha no I wouldn't. But yea Indy, after reading a little bit, I'm leaning more towards another DMF. What do you think? Of course will keep you guys posted abt the final decision and hopefully pics of the repair process.

"I'm leaning more towards another DMF"
Why do a DMF ?
They weigh more than needed .
They have more parts to break .

You will undoubtedly find other repairs that will come up in the next few months. IIRC your was sitting unused or minimally used for quite some time. Consider getting the car to a point where it is basically reliable before modifying. The light weight fly wheels are regularly discussed here and you may not have the appropriate resources in Brunei to tackle it with good results.

Do this one wrong and the frustrations will mount with stalling and idle problems.

JNeteler
What's your take on stalling / idling after installing the lightweight Indy.
As JNeteler suggests, if things go wrong, I won't have the appropriate manpower here to handle it.

This is where you suggest I fly you in, I think.

The 1989 has a 19 lb flywheel and does not have the stalling problem .
The dual mass is more than 19 lbs iirc .

The andial flywheel is the same weight as the 1989 flywheel , iirc .

The andial flywheel is not "lightweight" , its midweight .

The cost of labor is not the issue here. We pay less in the local currency than you pay in USD of GBP. The real issue is expertise and having proper diagnostic skills and tools.

I would have never seriously contemplated Porsche ownership over here without a resource like Rennlist. You practically have to spoon feed some shops around here with proper techniques and diagnosis. Otherwise all you hear is "kereta rosak" or car broken.
