Do you need a MAF or AFM? The ebay item is a AFM.

There is a terminology problem. Those are both AFMs, which use a spring-loaded door to sense air flow. The MAF uses a hot wire anemometer to measure air flow.

The AFM has small errors in mass flow measurement when the temperature, humidity, or atmosphereic pressure are different from the conditions when the AFM was calibrated. MAF sensors on the other hand respond to true mass flow under all conditions. Fuel combustion ratios are mass ratios, and therefore a MAF sensor provides a signal that better reflects what is needed to set the engine controls. The errors are small, but a MAF-equipped engine can be tuned for slightly better emissions and fuel economy.

There's a guy on Pelican selling an AFM from an 86. I decided to pass on it. His name is Jascha, I think.
