Default Leaking ATF from Power Steering High Pressure Line?

Has anyone had this problem before. I know that leaking from the seals on the pump itself is fairly common.

I tried bleeding the power steering line, and this was when I noticed there was build up of ATF fluid under the banjo of the high pressure power steering line, coming off of the pump.

I replaced the two crush washers, but it is still leaking. What could be the cause of this?

thanks.

I've not had problems with the banjo fittings. I would try retorquing the fitting at first. If that doesn't work, I would remove the connection again, clean the area well and put on a new set of crush washers and be sure to torque it.

I have had some leaking from some of the high pressure line fittings going into the steering rack, but they were very minor, well actually, one day it burped out about a 3 inch puddle. For the easy fix I tried the lucas power steering fluid stop leak and I have had no problems since. Maybe if you still have a minor leak after you re-torque you may try it. Good Luck.

I've had the hose blow at the Banjo fitting - had to replace the hose. It's a common fault as the cars age (apparently).

What torque values are you guys torquing it down to? It's leaking enough ATF to make it a problem.

Replaced the hose 2 days ago. Torque value = 30Nm.

Just re-read my post, the hose was leaking from the swage where the line joins the banjo, not at the fitting. Does that make more sense?

All you need to do to bleed the system is turn the wheel right and left a few times. It bleeds its self.

It is still leaking quite a bit from there. Enough to cause smoke off of the exhaust every time I take the car for a drive. I might just have to try and replace the whole line, as part of the process of narrowing the problems down.
