ebay engine mounts // 993
I received the ebay version of the engine mounts today and installed them. They are absolutely not OEM as the ad seems to imply. The original mounts have a left and right side, apparently to compensate for differences in motion from engine torque, however, the replacement ones are identical. I think you get what you pay for, however, they appear to be functional and the threads have anti-slip coating on them. I'd go with OEM.
One pleasant but unexpected aspect of the 993 mounts is the much longer thread will alow a lower partial engine drop in the future for doing valve adjustments without having to fully take the supporting bolt off.
I already had the car on jackstands and so supported the engine with my jack and a "highly fabricated support block".
The mount is secured below by a 19 mm bolt for which you will need a long socket wrench (for the reinstall) and then removed the two retaining bolts on the top (13mm). The replacment goes right in and a new bolt (not included) is used below. Note that the engine mount has a square portion at its base that fits into the upper side of the engine mount. I did not measure the 13 mm bolts, but I believe they were M8 1.25 45 mm partial thread.
Once tight, I proceeded to the drivers side and replaced in a similar manner.
Since the old engine mounts leave the car hanging a bit lower, the engine will now have to be jacked up a tad to bring the engine up to the same level as the new engine mount base.
I then went below the car and tightened the 19 mm bolts the remaining way. I still need to check the torque setting for the bolts.

What people are selling as OEM 993 engine mounts are not 993 engine mounts. 993 engine mounts are just like 964 engine mounts, they are hydraulic while these aftermarket versions use rubber. The difference between actual OE C2 and C4 engine mounts is the casing material. One is aluminum while the other is steel.
