Jeff33702, Good luck on the build and I will follow your progress. I have that car in my watchlist but never took the chance to negotiate with the seller (posting was 30k). I knew you got it for a really good price so I am excited for you as you try to make it your own!

Did we all see the 1993 964 C2 manual, slicktop Japanese import Cobalt/Cobalt coupe for sale?
47,000 miles but listed as a good driver condition..........wait for it......
$110,000 asking.

wow! I thought I remember it started at $95k when first posted. Remarkable jump in price. Do you think it's because it's an import from Japan, Low miles, delete sunroof option, plus the color that are the top 4 attributes there is such a premium price on it?

I am no expert in Japanese imports but that would make me skeptical of the mileage; it is either not accurate or they were really hard miles to be now relegated to "good driver" status.
A US car in similar spec would be worth more than a Japanese car I would have thought. And I don't understand the sunroof aversion some folks have. I am 6'1" and able to drive with helmet at the track. If it is a weight issue, I would rather get better driving it that lighten it.
Like real estate, the last sale means the next one must be higher syndrome. This is crazy money however you look at it and if the economy continues to slow, cold be a 65k car by spring.
I hope he gets it although, again like real estate, if you aren't a seller, it is irrelevant what the comps are. And I am not a seller.

I believe I heard it was painted and I haven't seen a shot that looks different than the one color which is odd for cobalt. A hard color to capture and it shifts from blue to purple to pink at times. Yet all the pics look the same. Could be a nice buy for the right person. I would have it checked out thoroughly.

Honestly, I get that I am predisposed to it, but I cannot believe how much traction a Cobalt car gets at C&C or track days, even on the street. I was a Stealer last week picking up a part, even the wrenches were all out checking out the car along with half the sales force. One lady from the showroom wanted to buy the car for her husband, the salesman in tow almost fainted. After the purchase inside (floor mat fasteners) I came out to a crowd around the car thinking Oh Oh, what have I done, did someone crash into it? It was more like, "is this a factory color", "didn't these come with white upholstery", "is this your car"? (Currently, yes, but I curate for my daughters who are arguing over ownership). I keep it nice but the lady "buyer asked the salesman what one of "those" goes for and he said about $35,00). As if, typical Stealer salesman. She lost interest immediately: "too cheap". Welcome to 90210.

Nothing gets attention like cobalt. It is amazing how many peoples jaws drop when they see it.
Ironically when I purchased mine back in the early 2000's the seller couldn't get good good pictures on the internet and had a hard time finding anyone to look at it. I was lucky to find one of 3 turbo 3.6's and one of a very few cobalt cars period ordered with black interior.
Enjoy the attention.

thanks to all of those who kicked me back to my senses. And I am glad the wife also supported that I should not sell it as it will be very tough for me to get something similar in the future.
Here's to enjoying Raven.

Cobalt and Iris Blue are at the top of my favorite Porsche colors, they are both absolutely stunning to look at.
