Nice wheels and photo. I have a set of those coming with the track car I just purchased. They look good.
Thanks Anthony, not many photos show the shades of Cobalt you see here at the door and rear quarter panel.
I like Cup 1s but MY02's are a great design aesthetically and well suited to the 964. So minimal. And far lighter weight than standard Cup 1 wheels. Not to mention 18" and not aftermarket.
Finally took the old girl in for some services and found out what the slightly off idle sound was...Low compression in a couple cyl. and no good leak down numbers too!
So out it comes for an upper end rebuild, reseal and new clutch. Mechanic says that the motor has never been apart before, but clutch was replaced prior to my ownership.
Not bad for 140,000 miles!

Hey Abarth Guy, did the Abarth sell on BAT and if so time for a name change? Just kidding, where are you having the engine work done on your car? Looks like Redline?
Thanks,

Yes, my old Alfa Spider sold on BAT for some crazy money!I May keep the name as I still have one last old Alfa here!
The name of the place repairing my 964 is Porshaw in Orange. Sold for $71,000 !!
Sorry, totally off topic but this is the BMW version of Cobalt; Avus Blue, after the racetrack; a 1 year color in 1995. Hard to tell off this phone pic but there is also a color shift as with our cars. I bought this one over the weekend, needs some cosmetics but the interior and motor/trans are fresh. It's a flyer even though it is no Porsche ($43,000 new vs $90,000) in its own way it is almost as satisfying to drive, just in a different way. As I age, along with the 964, I am reluctant to take the Porsche into traffic here in LA, the average driver IQ being in double digits here. But the M3, who cares? Best bang for the buck in todays market, in 2 years they will be gone.

It may be my turn next, the car runs flawlessly, screams to redline, purrs like a kitten. But, the leaks are such now that oil is dripping onto the heat exchanges and poses a fire hazard. Leaks are from the case through O rings so valve job and reseal. Hopefully everything else is fine inside the case, we will pull a rod and check the bearings.
I have called around a few places to see what the ballpark $ figure might be and get quite a range 12k-20k. Depends a lot on the machine work needed of course and if you want to spruce up the cosmetics; zinc, hoses, belts, engine pad etc. Which I do.
Funny how life is, I settled on an excellent Indie here in SoCal, highly recommended who only uses a machine shop owned and run by....Competition Engineering/Walt Watson, who built my 1st ever 911 motor, a 71 911T-30 years ago!

I will keep all posted on my rebuild.....
Machine work is done and we have only added a few items "while in there"
Distributor belt, Power Steering belt, Powder coat tin, Rebuild original fuel lines, Clutch slave rubber hose....
Abarth Guy, looking forward to seeing your finished product, mine went in Friday for a valve job too. The car drives fantastically well but the leaks are onto the heat exchangers, which could result in a fire. I am at 160k+ miles.
My cobalt car is getting ready to reassemble !
Had to post a pic of my latest blue one.....
Telling the local PCA guys that I bought a Voodoo Blue Macan
