will stock 17" 993 cup wheels fit 964?

Yep, fit no problem. no spacers needed. Porsche says to fit larger wheels you need to do this http://pcarworkshop.com/images/7/70/...0691geolab.pdf tsb. I am just now doing it after 3 years with the 993 cups, and they took a little of the paint off of the inner fender, but only at full lock. Good luck.

I have 7" and 9", both ET55, and opted for a 5mm spacer on the rear and longer studs. Not sure if it's really needed, but with 255s I could not slip a finger between the sidewall and the trailing arm. Considering I occasionally track the car I felt it was a little insurance. I have not seen a need for the steering rack stops using 205s.

Pay attention to how close the tire comes to the oil line in the right rear wheel well. I have 255/40/17
tires on 8" Turbo twists, with 55 ET. With my negative camber, tire came 1/4" from the oil line. I added 5MM spacers, and now have close to 1/2".

I'm sure I have seen 'stock 993 cup wheels' for sale where the 9J rears have an ET of 70. By my calculations these would need 15 mm spacers to keep a good clearance from the inside of the wheel arch.

The key here is to definitely check the offsets.
I have a genuine set of 993 cup II wheels, 7" fronts & 8" rears and the rear offset is 30mm.
These will only fit a widebodied car unless you put very skinny rear tyres on (225 IIRC).
With 245s on the tyre protrudes outside of the rear wheel arch.
Spacers would of course only make the matter worse.
