Default Porsche Emblem on the Back of Car.

Hi all,

I'm wondering why the hell my car has a Porsche emblem on the front and the back of my car. I was told mine was originally a special order from Germany, that it had a "special" paint color and "special" leather on the interior. Is this another one of those "special" German features or do you think it's covering something bad under there

LMK your thoughts please.

Dan

Nothing under it, no holes or bolts. Clean.

Someone stuck it on there. They placed it so close to the edge of the engine lid as well that even a casual observer would probably see it for what it is. Nice looking car though...personally I would try to get it removed asap.

Funny picture!! Oh man, these are tough words to hear! It must go, but I'm wondering if the paint under it will be not as faded as the rest of the lid. How does this work when people pull of the Carrera for example. Any of u have any experience with that?

Mine is a little faded, but you don't notice it unless you're looking for the discoloration. But, I've been told that red is the worst color for this sort of thing, Silver shouldn't be so bad.

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...the-color.html

I had to use Q-tips and citrus solvent to remove all of the adhesive left behind by my script when the car cover ripped it off. I've heard that someone (3m maybe) makes a random orbital pad for this. That might be easier, depending on how it's attached.

Good luck,
Let us know if you decide to remove it, and how it turns out.

Let's hope it's not covering something nasty...

The dental floss is a great way to remove the emblem. After you get all the tape residue off if there is a fading issue, try some very light polishing compound and good old fashioned elbow grease. I did this on my Carrera script and it worked very well. If you have no experience using power tools for this DO NOT use any or you may run the risk of going right through the paint especially at the edge of the lid.

We just picked up a new car for our growing family- the dealer put their emblem/dealership name on the car- I can't stand those, but this mis-placed crest would bother me even more on this 911.

For the dealer emblem, what I did may work for your before even trying the dental floss- Take a hairdrier and put on a glove. Hold the hair drier close to the emblem running it on hot, while applying pressure with your gloved hand- I used work gloves and was able to get just enough grip with my fingernails to apply gental pressure as the hair drier loosened up the stickey stuff holding it on- in the case of the porsche crest, the easiest area to get a grip and apply pulling pressure would be the bottom point. For the dealer emblem I removed, this process took about 20-30 seconds (it doesn't take that long is my point).

As it started to come up I carefully pulled it off, keeping the hairdrier blowing on it while carefully pulling using steady non-forceful pressure. Once it initially started pulling up, it only took about 10-15 seconds to pull the whole thing off cleanly, leaving no adheasive behind. If there were adheasive left behind, careful rubbing should remove it easliy with the sheetmetal hot/warm from the hair drier, or if that doesn't work wait a few moments for the sheetmetal to cool to the touch and try to rub it off with your bare fingers.

I would try this method this even before the dental floss as it doesn't require anything coming into contact with the paint.

By the way, I've taken dealer names off cars even when they are several years old with success (no noticable paint fading). I always figured in a worse case if it left a mark I could stick a new dealer sticker back on, but never had to resort to that

Always good for the excuse, “You do not know whether you are coming or going.”
