New Badge Delete - Will time/sun exposure even out the color?

The Carrera script got caught on the car cover. If you look closely you can see that the paint is slightly lighter where the badge used to be. Has anyone noticed this after removing their badge? Did the contrast disappear with time?

After a few years it may become more difficult to spot. But if the area where the script was fades, so will the area around it.
I changed my RS America script a year ago and can still tell where the original was.

When I removed mine there was a definite difference but it seemed to have more to do with the effect that the double backed tape had on the paint than fading. This is on a whit car though and I am sure with a darker color that obvious fading will be the case. To try and even out mione more I used a fine rubbing compound and polished the area as much as I could to minimize the difference and I think I was largely successful. With that said if you look carefully then you can tell and I did this over 3 years ago and I can still tell where the Carrera script was. Had the same issues when I changed the door mirrors. This too was over 3 years ago and after rubbing out the area it still shows today. I hope you have better luck but I would wager that it will not completely go away. Good luck with it though.

I swapped my black "Carerra 4" logo for a silver "Carerra" logo which was centered so did not line up with the other.
I polished the heck out of the area before putting the new one on with Meguire's "Scratch-X" and you can't see anything now.

I know it doesn't answer your question, but since it doesn't seem you intended to pull off the script, why not replace with a new one? Carrera 2 is such a classic name for porsche- the history of the 4-cam 356 comes to mind...

Sadly, RED is the toughest color in this case, because it fades faster than any other color. When I saw your post title I hoped you didn't have a red car,--but then the photo told me you would have trouble. I don't think it will ever even out.

Does anybody know, do the replacement badges come with the proper adhesive already attached?
I'm looking at part numbers:
911 559 037 00 - "Carrera"
and
964 559 241 01 - "2"
If not, what's the best way to attach them?
Thanks,
James

It will adjust over time, but you seem to be forgetting that the rest of the paintwork will still fade at the same rate, just from a different starting point.

y'know -- this whole adhesive badge removal & application issue really lends itself to a proper photo DIY...
e.g., dental floss, surface prep, measurements, blue tape, badge pivot/flip-down points -- done.
(methodically done -- it's a perfect two left-thumbs, beginner-level, high satisfaction-quotient DIY)
And the same re that damned front hood badge.
(trivia: our hood badges have the same p/n as that found on a '65 911)
