May I ask why you want this wheel? It is bulky and big, with an airbag that can't be used on your car. There are smaller diameter, much more comfortable steering wheels for your car if you decide to change your current wheel. Just my ¢2.

+1.

I got a wheel from FVD and it's one of the best things I've done to the car so far. The driving position is significantly improved IMO.

No doubt because of looks, alone.
(I sat behind one of those 80's Carrera 4-pt wheels for a few years -- and it wasn't pretty, let me tell you.)

I dunno, I had a 4-pt wheel in my '86 951 and liked it better actually.

I had the same wheel in my 944 S2 and was looking for a more modern look? If the airbag will not work what is the use? Do FVD wheels have airbags??
FYI, I am selling my C4S and taking a 1989 C4 in trade so I will be on this forum a lot and hate to do searches..........Thanks for your help!!!!!Now how can I tell if the chip in my car is stock?

The 89 C4 did not come with air bags, simply adding the steering wheel is not adding the whole airbag system

Thanks for the input! I guess I could wire up a plunger switch on the Knee impact area.......? It sounds like aftermarket is the way to go. I think the wheel reminds me of my 1984 944 as I think my 1989 S2 had two airbags.

Livefreeanddrive,

Just to give you an idea of what we offer, here is an entry level Daytona Gt steering wheel. It is a 340 mm steering wheel (stock is 365 as a reference). This wheel retails for $ 782.00

You will also need a adapter to mount the wheel. Adapters start at $ 155.00

The airbag is an SRS Generation 2 bag.

Here is the link to our website for steering wheels...
http://shop.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/9...ringWheel.html

If you have any questions I will be happy to help you, just pm me or call me directly.

Thumbs up

FVD,

Nice web site.
Good, easy to browse presentation.
And your prices aren't whacky, either.

(Now, I'm not presently looking for a new wheel... but if I was -- and my unsolicited suck-up, here, were to be somehow, err, ahhh... [cough] compensated [cough] -- I wouldn't say 'no' to one of those really nice flat-bottomed Daytona wheels. Very nice.)
