Default new 964 c2 cab owner

Hi,

This is my first post to the forums. I own a '99 986 and have been just hiding out for a while. We just bought a '91 C2 cab, GP white (the fast color) with a tip. I have a couple of ?'s about and am sure I can get the help I need here.

On the tip indicator light, the red light only displays when the running or headlights are on. Is it supposed to be on all the time? If so, where would I start looking?

Can the A.C. be turned on any time? or only when the OAT is high enough?

The ashtray wont stay closed. Is there a fix for this?

This is pretty much going to be the wifes car ( i am so f-ing JEALOUS!!!) and she really has only two requests, it has to be pretty, and when she turns the key, it has to go.

I'll post some photos in a bit.

Thanks for any help!!

Tom

Tom
Welcome to the board

The ashtray in a common problem on early 964

Great place to put a cell phone or sun glasses

I had my mechanic fix it

Other people on this board may be able to explain how to do this

welcome, my tip did that it was a blown fuse, the interior light is on the same fuse.
reff this on the ash tray https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=60243
and how many buttons on your climate control unit 1 or 2 ? if i push mine in the ac will come on no matter what the temp is. not that its like really cold or anything.

The blown fuse makes total sense, as the interior light doesn't work. The AC has only one button, the clutch isn't engaging so it's probably low or no freon. The PO had it charged a while back so it more than likely has a slow leak .

Thanks for the links!!!!

you can check this thread on the ac, its a wire in the engine area thats easy to bump and disconnect https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=60243
else if its a r12 unit upgrade it to r135 while your fixing the leak.

Ashtray and tip light fixed!! The ac is going to take a bit more work. No worries though, don't need it for a while. Now I have to replace the deck lid struts. Those look like they are going to SUCK.
Thanks again for all of the help.

I love the handling of the boxster, but man, once this sweetheart gets past 4500--- HOLY CRAP!!!
The pull and song are just ...... you guys know
