Default Racecar Project - Engine Rebuild time - Parts for Sale

I will very shortly be removing and disassembling my engine for rebuild. It has approximately 100 hours (all rpm hours) 60 (above 3500rpm) on it and will be moving to the next design. The oil analysis and leakdown tests show no abnormalities and everything has been looking good. Here is what will be for sale if anyone is planning a performance winter rebuild. Email or PM me if you are interested.

- 9M Heads - original design
- 996 GT3R crankshaft
- Carrillo rods 127mm (STD length) for use with 996 crank and 993 3.6/3.8 or custom pistons custom clearances and weight
- Custom Race camshaft designed for 9M heads and ITBs. Will work with std heads and ITBs
- Ceramic coated headers 1 5/8" stepped to 1 3/4" with open pipes and Lime Rock muffler (89-92db)

This engine has produced a good broad torque band with usable RPM to 8000rpm. It has been a race winning combination with no DNF or engine issues at all. Dyno sheet has been posted here and can be provided via email.

Geoffrey, slightly off topic, what company do you use for oil analysis?

Just a preemptive rebuild due to the number of hours?

Yes, partly. I don't recommend running a racing engine more that 100 hours (over 3500rpm) so this one is nearing time. Also, the stock Mahle pistons and cylinders aren't known to stay true much over 60 hours (although this engine still has 2% leakdown and uses only 1qt of oil during a race weekend). The Mahle pistons are heavy and this engine has been turned to 7800rpm on a consistent basis. I want to remove them before they pull a pin and break.

But the largest reason is that I want to move on to a new design with a larger displacement...details to follow this winter...

This engine has been so reliable that I have only changed the oil (every 10-15 hours) and adjusted the valves (once per season) since it was built. I haven't even needed to change spark plugs.

Never heard of 'em, but will check them out, thanks. I use Blackstone Labs.

You've got me curious and looking forward to your next build.

Whatever our public differences, you must know I hold your work in the highest regard and am looking forward to a winter of great interest, with regard to your future build.
