I have yet to take ride height measurements. Once I figure out an easy way to do so I will post some numbers. I will have the shop adjust ride height during the alignment procedure.

Hey, that's how I set mine! I had my shop even them out when I got my alignment. It's a lot easier for them to do with it up on the rack.
Good job guys. I did mine a few months back and it took me a couple of weekends (I had some "issues"). Good idea to get your shop to break the rear bolts lose for you. I elected to just grind the heads off of mine and replace the bolts and washers. I wish I had thought to have my wife video me up under the car with grinding sparks flying out from under it.

Suspension parts deal secured
Ricardo and Hawk911
I have secured a set of HR Turbo Reds and 2 Bilstein HDs for the front and 2 Koni adjustables for the rear. The parts have about 700 miles on them according to the seller. They are from for a later model (94) with the updated rear shock mount and I will look at machining the proper plates for installing them on the rear. I went ahead and bought 2 new Bilsteins for the rear, just in case I don't want to get all involved in the machining modifications. I like Koni adjustables, but not that much! I figure can sell whichever pair I don't use.
After searching, I really could not find a clear, here is how you do this modification, so I decided that if I had them (the later shocks) in my hand, I could better visualize the requirements for the pieces to fit them onto my '89.
I'm sure my old shocks are tired, but I will be surprised if they are as bad as what you described. The car has no ill handling traits at this time and I drive pretty aggressively. Time will tell and I'll let you guys know what I find.

Ricardo,
Maybe I missed it since I'm reading your post on my phone, but could you tell us total cost of parts?
BTW, thought my shocks/struts were OK too until I saw photos of my first AutoX at Maverick region a few weeks ago. Left front was only a couple of inches off the ground in a hard braking corner!

It's less than $30 in parts. I went through Sunset Porsche.

Using Ricardo's parts list, I just placed my order to Sunset. I also ordered all RS parts to convert front to RS upper mounts. Sunset had all parts in stock, and as always were great...
BTW, the RS parts add significant $$$ to Ricardo's $30.00...

good luck Mitch. The swap is pretty painless as long as you take your time and have the appropriate persuasion tools ( a mighty big hammer, breaker baror a huge impact wrench with lots of torque)

I'm about to make the leap from my 57k mile original shocks too. How is the Bilstein/H&R setup on rough roads? Compared to original? And where is a good source for the springs/shocks after all?
Thanks!
nick
ps- I love D90's too

nick, if you've still got the original shocks, then the ride is not worse than what you have now. It should be tighter in the corners, without being bone-jarring on rough roads.
Mshobe- I'm just up the road a bit more than Ricardo, if you want to stop by.
