Default Lift Reccomendations

I'm thinking of getting a portable lift. I've been looking at this one http://www.kwiklift.com/Compare.htm I like it because there is no scissors to get in the way. Any comments on this lift, along with other lift recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks

Question

Looks good, News, for a roll-on lift.

I was digging the wheels-off capability of their "center bridges" till I realized that our 'official' lift points are too close to the rolling line of our wheels. So we couldn't utilize that center bridge, as shown.

Wheels left on: seems ok.
Wheels off: doesn't seem to cover that. Yes?

(Also, would engine's width preclude a drop between those two ramps? Out of my familiarity zone, here. Just speculatin'.)

Considering the height you get, and the fact you can't remove your wheels on this to do brake work etc., I don't see how this is any better than 4 good jackstands and nice jack.

I have since upgraded my jackstand and got a lower profile jack and my 964 is easy to get up on the 4 stands.

I am totally with you on getting a lift, like that Bend-Pak, just not this one.

I purchased a Bend-Pak Scissor Lift (MD-6XP) in March for $1550 incl/shipping and think it was the best investment that I have made. It lifts the car up ot 4 feet off the ground. Regarding the scissors, I do not see them as getting in the way at all. I will be using the lift for fluid changes, exhaust work, suspension & brake work, and any other minor things that I can do myself.

From a brand perspective, you can also go with Eagle or Greg Smith brands. They may be less expensive than Bend Pak...

I just sold a kwiklift that I purchased to remove a tranny out of my Jetta.
Worked great for that job, but found that the lift was not that easy to live with.
my wife would not drive up the ramp and even in the down position, it was still was not easy to live with.
The ramps are heavy and bulky and you get quite the workout lifting up the rear end.

they do work as advertised.

you should search craigslist for some used ones.

Bill has been bringing his lift to the track, and last weekend the owner of the company came out and took some pics and did some promo stuff. All I can say is this lift, if it meets your needs in terms of height, etc is *awesome*. I will be getting one soon. Both race weekends my car has ended up on the lift, so thanks to Bill and thanks to EZLIft. Made in the USA to boot.

Thanks for all of your replies/input. Looks like I'll go with a scissor lift.
