As some of you are aware, the 964RS trailing arm is fitted with a stiffer rubber bush than the standard road version. The bad news is that the RS rear trailing arm apparently is no longer available from the dealer, so if you have an RS with a damaged arm or if you want to replicate the sharper handling of the RS on your stock 964 you have no choice but to use a standard arm. On the road this arm is acceptable, but on track with grippy tyres and hard suspension, you will get a lot of movement in this bush, hence causing tracking change under load. The ultimate solution is to fit monball joints, but whilst these may be acceptable for a track car they are definitely not recommended for road use and are also not accepted by some racing classes.

As a result of the 9mRS build program we are now looking into making alternative bushes for the the stock 964 arms. Two bush kits are proposed:
a) Equivalent stiffness to RS, which ultimately may be acceptable as an alternative to the RS arm for racing.
b) Hard version for track use offering some compliance for occasional road use.

We are having the RS and standard parts stiffness tested at the moment and should be able to go into production within the next few weeks. Any comments would be appreciated, thanks.

I am very much interested in the direct replacement bushings (Option a) for the US, specifcally for the Euro Cup cars that are currently restricted to the PCA GTC-1 racing rules. We currently have no option in replacing the wearing RS/Cup bushings because monoballs are prohibited. I would think that this option, if I could get it approved by PCA Racing Rules Committee, would be a good solution to these aging cars.

I'd vote for the standard RS option too. My guess is that the second option would put too much stress on a standard C2/C4 (normally with sunroof) without the extra stiffness of the RS shell. Looks like something else to add to the list when I get my suspension changed .

Another lister made some poly bushings for the front (Chirs Walrod) and I was looking to also replace the rear but had no other option but monoballs. That would be great.

I may be off track here (no pun inttended) but I recall that in Adrian's book he says that the bushes in RS and the C2 and C4 etc are the same -- it's just the washer on the outside that's thicker and puts more pressure on the bushes to stiffen them up.

Have I got bad recall? Haven't got the book here so I can't refer to the page.

All comments duly noted. No specifications or prices have yet been confirmed as we are still in the investigation phase of development, but it is good to know that there is interest in a replacement part. Once the initial batch have been made we will looking to have them track tested under extreme conditions, if they pass this test with flying colours we will then put them up for general sale. I'll try to keep you all in the loop as things naturally develop.
