PET. But Pelican is also a good source. The problem with this crush ring is that in the diagram is hard to see which one it is.

PM sent...

Amazingly the search function worked and I managed to find this thread, to help me with a leak I have in the oil filter housing area.

Does anyone know if the union for the bottom oil line that goes into the housing also has the same crush washer (it's not shown on pet). Also, what size spanners (wrenches) do we need for these couplings?

Thanks Jaime. I cleaned the housing yesterday and today see that the coupling to the thermostat line is dry and the leak is on the bottom line (hose 54 junction). Can't quite tell at the moment if it's coming from the crush washer on the union (as Crystal cranks found in this thread) or the hose to union junction. Looks like it's time to purchase some more 964 essential tools - which will be known as the '32 and 36 mm leak stopping twins - small but perfectly formed to fit into tight spaces'!

If you just need to replace the washer make sure you don't turn the union that joins to the thermostat housing, just undo the hose nut.
Watch out for those sore knuckles

I'm going to try tightening them up first (when I've got the right spanners).

Do you mean undo the hose first and then undo the union from the housing to replace the washer? And I presume this requires an oil change at the same time?

Sorry my mistake you will be removing the union for the washer, if it is anything like mine tightening it did not help.
I just waited and got mine done when i was getting my oil changed, but as that area is at the top of the oil system I don't see why you could not do it without an oil change all you would lose is whats in the filter and the housing.

One more question on this before I get to it.

If I find I need to replace the crush washer on the coupling, I think I'll drain the oil tank to be on the safe side. Does anyone know if undoing the 17 mm plug will vent the filter housing so that oil flows down to the tank?

Jaime pasted the link above but just so its not missed by anyone, he (and others) gave me brilliant advice and part numbers, tools etc for replacing this oil line and adjacent fixtures/fittings:
