Default Carbon Fiber Vs. Fiberglass front hood & decklid

Hi all!
I want to lightening my car (Now 90% track).
I'd like to replace the front hood and the decklid.

Carbon fiber or fiberglass?
New decklid + standard spoiler or new decklid + RS America Spoiler?

I must install front splitters or lips with the RSA spoiler ?

Ciao Paolo

A. Properly done, carbon fiber is lighter and stiffer than fiberglass. B. Make sure that front splitters are matched to rear spoiler or your aerodynamics will suffer.

Paolo,

Here's an article from the RSA site:http://www.rsamerica.net/articles/me...ex.htm#RUF-RCT

Few tuners, if any, can match Ruf's balance. The Ruf front spoiler will do fine with an RSA tail.
Call for verification.

Following Mr. Linton's advice, it should be noted that all of the standard suppliers of parts like Getty, MA Shaw, GT Racing use a wet layup process and the weight difference between carbon fibre and fiberglass is near zero. The extremely nice parts that Robert has made use a completely different process and the carbon fibre parts are much lighter. My short note is that unless you are going to use a company like Robert's Cartridge company, don't waste your money on carbon fibre parts, unless you are purchasing them for looks only as I did for the doors and hood of my racecar project.

As good a tuner as Ruf might be, to the best of my knowledge, such firm has neither a wind tunnel nor an aerodynamicist on staff. As such, regardless of the carbon vs. fiberglass issue, I would use a version of the factory Type 964 3.8 RS/RSR rear spoiler and the front spiltters appertaining thereto -- enough aftermarket firms make copies that these should be obtainable at reasonable cost.

RS Americas never had front splitters or any other type of front spoiler fitted from the factory.

Thanks at all!!
One question for Robert: RSR rear spoiler & RSR front lips on a narrow body?
P.S.: your car is very "outrageous"!!

I run mine with just the rear, feels rock steady at speed.

Good point. The spoiler should be no problem. As to the splitters, if the front under covers do not fit (and as I think of it they might not), perhaps some enterprising person could use the narrow body front covers and glue and screw the splitters thereto.
