Default Gong relay?

Howdy, all...

Where is the physical location of the gong relay in the C2/C4?

I think that it's up under the dash on the left hand side. See post #9 in this thread

OK, thanks; you've been a big help over the past couple days, Dave!

Does the gong relay have any purpose other than making noise when the door is open with the key in?
In other words, if the relay is removed, is anything not going to work, besides the noise?

It also warns you if you are leaving the headlights on when you remove the key.

And it goes off on a C4 when the hydraulic pressure is low.

What? Warning if headlight is left on, I do not get any warning, however the warning for low pressure works...

Does anyone now if the warning for headlights also exists on german models?

Not directly answering your questions but I modified the switches on my door to the always closed position. I don't get the annoying noise anymore. One of my Top 5 mods

I believe the ROW cars did not have the noisemaker installed. Mine was a little loose and would make the most awful sound as I was buckling my seat belt. I removed it and have yet to miss it.

Oh, and now all of the warning lights in the dash turn off much faster... I wonder if that's the way it's supposed to be?

Thanks for the replies guys!
I pulled the relay out last night, it was pretty easy, it wasn't completely seated to begin with.
I don't want the gong when the door is open and the key is in, but I want to retain dome light operation, so it seems removing the relay is the way to go. I was going to cut the wires to the speaker inside the relay and put it back in, but if not having the relay doesn't cause any issues, I'll just leave it out.

BTW: with the relay in I got no warning for headlights on either, but the headlights turn off when the car is turned off. 1993 C2
