As I understand it, the greens are for the 964 (part no. 29813) and the reds for the 965 & RSA (29834) -I have the reds on my 965.

That's exactly how I understand it too. Given that the Turbo is a little heavier I would have expected the Reds to be stiffer than the Greens.

FWIW mine look exactly the same as Kevin's.

Yes, the reds are stiffer than the greens. I totally got my wires crossed on that one. Note to self, don't drink and post...

(I will update my eariler post so nobody reads and assumes wrongly)

Jeez I must have been really whacked out last Friday - you said the bearing was crunchy? No need to remove the A-arm ( I had to remove mine to do the A arm bushings). Just remove the wheel carrier (the thing that everything is attached to) and press it out from the inside, after removing the ABS "tooth wheel" and wheel hub (the thing holding all the studs for the wheel to go on).

You will need to press the hub out before the bearing. Often times the outer bearing race stick to the hub shaft, so be sure to take that off before inserting the hub into the new bearing. Insert the new bearing first, then the hub shaft.

What a freaking pullover!!

Sent the G/F over to Design911 to get a couple of spring seats for the rears (didn't want to reuse the originals as they looked like they'll never come off) and she came back with a pair that just flopped over the thread - too big!!

Design911 gave her the part number:

96433351300

My 'man' who is doing the job for me has just confirmed that the OE seats were moving, so he's gonna try and re-use these.

They'll be the right size, yeah??

Pi55ed off Pete!!

Pete,

That part number is the correct part for the OEM (Boge??) shocks. However, I suspect the reason why Bilstein normally supply one with the rear shocks is because it's a different size. If you didn't get the Bilstein adjuster with the shocks I'd be tempted to call the supplier - or Bilstein direct on 01455 283407.

I doubt that the original will fit either - unless it has Bilsteins already.

Regards

Dave

This is the last change to save my G/Fs track day on Thursday.

Am I right in saying that if the Bilstien rear shocks - B461547 come without the lower spring seat, then the ones on the OE shocks can be reused??

Sorry to repeat myself but it's getting close to call!!

Cheers

Pete

Pete,

If you look at Kevin's post earlier in the thread where he shows a picture of his, you'll see there is a threaded collar around the rear shock (in fact, all of them). If that is the part you are querying then it should come with the shock - mine did. I suspect, although I've got no definite basis to confirm it, that the diameter of the Bilstein shock is smaller than that of the OEM Boge shock and again, I'm guessing, but I think you'll find that the original one won't fit.

The part number you quoted earlier (3 in the attached PDF) is the OEM part which Lou got from Design 911 and I believe you'll find that the part on the car will be the same and will not fit the Bilstein shock.

I suggest you call the supplier (or Bilstein direct) to confirm it.

Regards

Well, panic over. We used the OE collars with the new shocks.

Pleased to see that the oil that I noticed on the under tray was from dripping down from the oil filter area. Looks like when it was last replaced, a load of oil spewed out and ran down that inner panel.

So looking like Lou will go to the ball after all - let's hope her carrage doesn't turn into a pumpkin after 12!!

Whilst the car was up in the air, we noticed fluid coming from both ends of the steering rack. the inner edge of both gaiters. Guess there is a seal leaking - but both ends???

What do you learned peeps suggest?

Lucky.

First trackday under Lou's belt. Well....half under.

Had a great (spirited) 130 mile drag in the Ult and the C2 over to the track at Snetterton. The Porsche shape looks beautiful when in sillouette from the morning sun (wonder how those 993 boys feel about the best bit of the 911 design (the lamp and wing angle) being lopped off for the 993??????).

She was really getting to grips with the car, until the engine carrier spit whilst curb hopping and the engine took up an awquard lean. Game over.

Limped it back home. Lou finished off the day in the Ult so all OK in the end.

So, engine carrier. Easy replacement? Do they do a stronger one, cos now Lou's got the bug, she ain't gonna stop hoppin'!!

Here she is:

Was it the carrier (part 1) or mounts (part 7) that split?
PS Nice job of getting your car ready and out on the track.

Hey Joey,

Great diag.

Yep, Part 1. Fracture starts at the lower (diagonal) edge of part 1, directly under the '4' on your diagram. The split is vertical, about 3/4 the way up. This has buckled p1 and caused the engine to drop.

Whoopsy.

PARR motorsport £130 + VAT

Question guys:

The engine has dropped about 2 inches in the rear RHS corner. What other damage might I have incurred to items that are attached and suspended between engine/trans and chassis??

Don't ask, you don't want to know. Just get the cheque book out.

I would take it to GT One if I were you, as they're local. They won't rip you off and will recommend whatever is your most economical option.
