Default Update on interior stripdown

Hi

A few months ago I started, on and off, to strip out my C4.
Started by removing all the seats and belts, took out soundproofing, cutout certain bits of the loom and all the brackets not needed.

Sold a few bits (got told I couldn't spend any money, any new parts wanted had to come from the proceeds of the bits sold) and bought new seats, carpets etc.

So far I have made ply boards for the driver and passenger floor, installed new carpets and fitted the new seats. Plus tried something with the centre console that I'm still not sure on?!?
Still to do are the door panels.

Some pix so far.....

It looks brand new, very nice indeed! Not sure either regards the center console. Maybe put in a black one for a few days and then switch back to get an idea of what you like best?

Interior looks nice, but i agree the red console looks a bit off. Btw, your harness setup is not safe...you'll get way too much belt stretch in the event of an accident.

Looks great - with all things considered - how much weight was saved?

Please provide additional pic's if possible.

Jerry,

Carpet install wasn't that bad. ThomasC2 mailed me some pics of his Appbiz carpet install which helped no end.
I just had to be patient(not one of my best qualities) and have plenty of coffee and nicotene handy.
Best bit is you can see the improvement as you go along.
Worst bit was the centre console carpet where you have to fold in half and cut the holes.

Appbiz's carpet is a great quality for the price, I did send Bob my side pieces to make a rhd set but the tunnel is different as well, that's why I've got a plastic pad in the pass. footwell but I can cope with that for $260 rather than £661 here in the UK.

Ebenke - I think I've saved in the area of around 75-90 kg. I'll post some more pix when I get chance to take some.

Kirk - Thanks!

Have Fun

Rob

Rob, looks really good.. The carpet job is great and I'm hoping that I can get a RHD set from Bob for my car. Did you consider the RS door panels from AppBiz? Was the shipping cost for the carpet set reasonable to the UK? I have Recaro Pole Positions and the rear seats are now pretty much just dead weight.

Regards, Neil

Neil

Shipping to the UK was around £20. Bob did me some discount as I'd sent my old set over to him to pattern.
Like I said, for the money the carpets not bad. No where near original Porsche quality but cheap enough not to be if you know what I mean?!?!?
He should have the RHD pattern now, just ask him to reverse the centre tunnel front part so the rubber/pvc footrest is on the RHS not Left.
Door panels are ok but I'm going to recover them myself and use original porsche fittings. That way I can match up the door panel tops and bits under the rear window.

I was, I may do, I still am?!?!

I've dropped enough hints for Santa so I'm hoping he brings one (or just a roll bar w/harness bar will do in case he reads this!!!)
