Remodled steering wheel on its way back!!!!
Just received a picture of my steering wheel I purchased on a group buy from the 993 forums. It came as pictured in my car and i decided I wanted it a bit fancier. So I sent it to Paul Champagne a master at leather work and a rennlist sponsor. https://rennlist.com/spnsrs/paulchampagnedesigns.html
I should receive it in a few days and will post better pics once I have it installed. I decided to leave the horn buttons as is vs covering them in leather since my interior is CF and aluminum. I am not a fan of silver crests, so I kept that original looking. If you guys need leather work done Paul is the man.
I added more pictures.
As you can see the new leather is one piece sewn vs several glued pieces from Raid. Fantastic workmanship.

Very nice! Is his schedule opening up a bit? I e-mailed with him in the Spring about redoing a 3-spoke 996 wheel in perfed leather, but he was booked well into the future at that point.

It is a 340mm wheel from Raid. Nice wheel thicker grip and improved horn buttons over their previous design.
I am not sure. I know when I spoke to him initially he was way out almost a year and this was a while back. He fit me in as a side job so long as I didn't mind waiting for it. You would have to bring it up with him, although it is worth waiting for.

Although it was expensive it wasn't that bad for what it is. This is going in the turbo so nothing but the best for cobalt blue 3.6T. Between the savings from the group buy and having the leather work done by Paul it cost me about the same as list for the wheel as it was delivered. The quality is far superior and I get a factory crest too.

I put one (plain blk leather) in my 964 and my first thought (I'd never seen one live) was this is too nice for the car and its a little small, but I love the thickness and the fit and finish is excellent.

Looks very nice mate - BTW which crest did you use? There are so many advertised out there as being "the" one - the one used on your remodelled wheel looks spot on

Paul took care of it all. He used the factory wheel crest that they use on the current models. He even did research on the airbag and how it opens. Apparently these airbags are designed to open from the bottom and the flap flips upwards out of the way. This way in the unlikely case you need to use the airbag it will not be thrown into your face. (A concern of mine) I will post pictures as soon as it is installed.
