Hmm, think I'll look at replacing the hubs with steel. Although primarily a track car, it does get used on the road and with the state of my local roads potholes are not uncommon. Sounds like hitting a pothole could cause a problem.

I would not worry about the pot holes they are really bad where I live & my hubs are ok. My damaged hub was from a severe knock that also involved replacement of the luggage compartment floor!

Thanks, everyone, for the words of caution. Time for a pause to look elsewhere.

Won't you gain weight with heavier wheels? :-))

Yesterday the suspension and brake system and most of the underbody was completed and the car set on its wheels. I rebuilt the speedlines and mounted new slicks. Tom has the engine assembled and I expect the car will be running over the weekend. The most time consuming jobs are to reassemble the doors and rear electric wing.

Were the electric wings functional on the cup cars?...the ones i've seen (mine included) are fixed in the extended position...Can't wait to see more pic's! Sounds like a great project Geoffrey...You east coast guys need to come to Mid-Ohio for a visit...I'd be more than pleased to host everyone, we could bunk at my place and head down to the track!

The cars the we service here all have operational rear electric wings, however, we raise them and then unplug them so they cannot fail during a race.

I'd love to get everyone together to go to Mid-Ohio

Hi Geoffrey. I have to rebuild a set of Cup Speedlines and I am looking for a source of the fasteners and gasket. Thank you.

How much did the luggage compartment floor replacement cost?

Sorry, don't know, it was before I owned the car.

The car is nearing completion and will be loaded on the trailer one week from today for testing at Watkins Glen. Tom should have the engine installed and running today, then corner balanced and aligned and dyno tested. From there, only a few small items remain and the decals should be installed on Monday and the car cleaned and ready to go for testing at WGI on Wednesday.

This car is so original, the VIN code sticker is still on the original hood. I've never seen another Cup car that still had its original hood.

Kevin, Thanks for the link to the model. We were trying to figure out what the decals were on the roof since I have not found any pictures of the car other than the Porsche Sport 93 book. If anyone has a link to additional pictures, I'd love to see them.

Kevin.
A strange looking model...the rear end looks more like a 993.
