Default 92 Cup Restoration Project

Here are a few pictures of a 1992 Carrera Cup car that I am in the process of restoring with a partner. This is the original Tag Heur car driven by Mika Hannenin and shown in the Porsche Sport 93 book. As delivered, the car had been modifed with Big Reds, Motons, 6spd RSR gearbox, 3.8l engine, and a host of other non standard parts. It was also painted in the guest livery.

I'll say this about this particular car, it is perfectly straight, with no damage or signs of repair. It has a number of the original parts that are unique to the Cup Cars such as the aluminum front hubs which are no longer available. We are working to get this car completed for testing at Watkins Glen Oct 17/18 and then down to the Rennsport Reunion gathering in Daytona.

Enjoy the pictures

Very cool Geoffrey! I'll make sure to check it out next week when I go to Tom's.
Good luck with the project, can't wait to see it on the track!

Those were not the original decals. It was a 92 Tag Heuer car sponsored.

Does that mean it was the same as the 93 Hakkinen car?

The RS hubs are aluminum and are No Longer Available. This car IS THE Mika Hakkenin Car which has also been signed by the drivers who drove the car. The graphics as we got the car were a copy of the 92 season VIP car that someone did along the way. We removed the graphics to return the car back to the Tag Heur livery as the car was raced in 1993 by Mika Hakkenin.

I'm not talking about the signatures in the waggenpass where the driver's names are listed along with other original documentation. The roof inside the cabin has been signed in red pen and we preserved the signatures. I will take a picture of them when the interior is more put together and the car is down off the lift. We also removed the aluminum hood and replaced it with a fiberglass replica from Getty Design since the aluminum hood is also no longer available and when found can be as much as 4-6k.
