Hi Guys,

i'll get to work on the diy instructions (might take just a couple of weeks as it's a busy time of year for me and it's about 18 months since i carried out the replacement...)

I'll post a copy of it shortly and post it via this thread... hope it will help!

Best regards

Bo

Looking forward to it Bo, I know mine's going to need doing sooner rather than later.

I like the look of the 993 top - it seems to preserve the curve of the roof better than the 964 type.

Well, decided to have someone else do this...

Car is at the shop getting the new top, headliner, elastic straps installed.

I got a call today telling me that they are having a hard time getting the driver's side (back area) to touch the body... seems there is like a 1/2" gap in that corner.

They are removing the back bow again to see if they can make it fit completely even.

I was trying to find a thread where I saw something similar, but could not find it.

If anyone has a clue to fixing this I would love to hear it, so I can call the shop and give them some pointers...

Like I said, they will remove the bow again and there are some screws in there that look like some sort of adjustment... but just asking in case someone has tackle this in the past.

I will be back in Orlando on Friday (in Arizona State University this week) and can't wait to see how the new 993 styled top will look in my car.

Cheers everyone!

I think it is the same problem nine64 was having in his car:

From your thread Bo:

What they told me is that the plastic window seems to be too big for it... they could not get it to stretch correctly.... exposure to the sun will help but they know it will not get it to where it is supposed to be. It appears that the vendor I got the top from put more plastic than needed... I need to call them up to see what they are going to do... unless the heat takes care of this by the time I get back home....

My wife tells me that the photo makes it look worse than what is actually is...

Good thing is that they were able to resolve the gap in that corner...

Jim,

I got the work done at:

Orlando Auto Upholstery
1311 North Orange Avenue Orlando, FL
(407) 898-2351

They are great to deal with and they do a lot of Porsches... when I was there they had a white cab that they were changing the interior (seats) to tan with blue piping (and had done the top in blue a few years back).

It came recommended from two friends (911SC and Boxster) that had their car's top redone there.

They also replaced the elastic strips on the boot cover and a seam that came unstitch.

Total came to US$900.00 for labor.

I am trying to get it all ready before the Sunrise to Sunset Rally in April. I will finish painting the wheels this weekend.
