Default 993 style one piece roof - nearly there...

Just having a tea break and thought i'd share these pics with you...

Getting closer to finishing the new roof now and i'm really pleased with how it's coming along. Having lots of fun with the glue (sticky fingers??!!??), but it appears to be going well so far...

The 993 style 'one-piece' roof i'm fitting gives a much better line to the shape of the roof (however, i'm sure that statement might start a 964/993 roof style debate?!?)

As impatient as i'm being though, i know i MUST wait for the glue to set before i carry on...[IMG]

Wow - that must rate as one of the hardest DIY jobs.

As an ex 964 cab owner, I would have changed mine for the 993 roof.

Yep, you're probably right Rob!!!
However, it's getting there now and so far the results are good!
I'm just glad i've got a digital camera, as all of the shots i took during the removal have proved invaluable, considering how many fixings are involved...
It's not too difficult(?) as long as you're patient (which usually, i'm not...), but one step at a time...
Can't finish it until next weekend though...

KB,
It's looking really nice.
I replaced my top with the two piece; what a nightmare. Wish I'ld went with the 993 style, like you did. What did you end up doing with the broken cables; did you replace them or leave them out? I left mine out and now wish that I hadn't. Thinking about taking the whole thing back apart this summer to replace with 993 style. I'll replace the cables then aswell.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product, Duncan

Hi Duncan,

I bought new cables from the OPC...

Here's a tip for you, the 993 cables fit, but are around 5GBP cheaper( around 8 dollars!!!)

So, for only 30GBP i replaced them with original cables that arrived from Germany within 2 days...

I've got a feeling that getting the tension right on the cables isn't going to be too easy?!?

I'm going to fit them tomorrow night, hopefully... (i'd better earn some points with the missus tonight!)

best regards

Thanks Glen,

I thought the seats were standard with the white piping? Maybe i'm wrong? They do keep me 'hugged' in place well though...

Anyone know?

Hope this helps...

You need to contact Vic at Vic's Upholstery Supply, in the US. The cost was only $625 shipped to the UK!!!
Quality is OE (rear screen does not unzip). Vic is a very helpful guy, you need to mention that it is the one-piece 993 style roof for the 964.

Hi KB,
The local opc who is fitting my top is having a promblem making the 933 style top fit correctly. they say they couldn't adjust this part to sit flush with the body. The other side seem to fit better. Any idea?
thanks for your help.

Tenn; IIRC, the US suplliers sell 2 different versions...a 993 roof and a 993 style roof for the 964; it could be that they are the same but it could also be that they are a little different.

thanks rob,
if they send me the right one it should be 993 style for 964, do you know what is the difference? I guess it would be a big difference, as the body would be difference a shape where the end of the top sit on the body.
the front and other side seem to fit well, just only that rearn corner that is not fitting well.

thanks
