You guys have to read "The Gold Plated Porsche" by Stephan Wilkinson where he explains the sickness in entertaining detail (i.e. dumping a small fortune into a $20,000 car).

Which is why I'd rather buy a Porsche that has had a rebuilt engine or other major upgrades. Because they are pretty much free.

The worst is when a prior owner puts in over $20,000 in engine work, and then 3 years later that same engine needs to be completely rebuilt... sometimes that money is a waste!

Hi Ken, I have never owned a Porsche before, but from looking at the pictures this could be a potential candidate. I'm concerned that something could go wrong with the car. Is there any issues you know of and how confident are you in the mechanicals. Thanks in advance. Mitch

Well I have a car (guess which one) that ended up with the previous owner modifying and repairing to the tune of $80K beyond the purchase price.........................

I believe the pictures I have posted speak for themselves. Alot of time, money and effort went into this 911 and the car is really beautiful. There are no issues with this 964, mechanically this car is a "10". Of course I would suggest to anyone interested in this car to get their own PPI. I will assist anyone wishing to have one done.

yup ......it happens over and over. truth is there are just very few folks who do good work on anything. IMO if you want to own and drive one of these cars, you best work on it yourself

Looks like it was not the best investment. It did come out really nice. It would be a prime candidate for a Full Concours contender !

I've read the book and actually met Stephan in person this past Spring at a PCA event. He took me to his house and showed me the gold plated Porsche. The car looks awesome, it is worth all the money he's put into it

What I'm trying to say is that depending on the work you do to a car, you might be able to recoup the cash.

I understand.

But it reminds me of that old saying: I just inherited and million dollars, and I'm gonna farm till it's all gone.
