Kirk, if you have not already done so, it would be a great time to add some strength to the engine carrier.
Also, when I was originally looking at the Sok setup, they suggested that the kit be installed with the engine in the car, so you could gain access to all the fasteners if you needed to do some work after the install. Just something to keep in mind.
I reinforced the engine carrier so there should be no problems there.
I spent today trying to get a 6 rib pulley on my a/c compressor. However it didnt work out. Although the shaft size was correct the solenoid assembly wouldnt fit in it. So I ordered up an a/c compressor for a 93-95 town & country chrysler minivan, which I think will have the right 6 rib pulley and clutch assembly to fit.
Maybe I will work on the vacuum lines and fuel system until it arrives.
Is that bed in the picture (at the begining of the thread) where you are sleeping after all of the money and time you have spent on this project? Just kidding... Both threads have brought many of us hours of fun.
Thank you for all of the time you spent on documenting your projects!
Well its been a very difficult few months. The economy took a crap, and it has made my life difficult. I work in heavy industry (oil/gas/mining) and the projects all over the place are either being cancelled or put on hold.
So now I am working on a project about 9 hours from where I live. I work 10 days there and 4 days home. (Which is making my wife and 1 year old not very happy...)
This is unfortuneatly making this SC project a near impossibility for me. I have decided that I simply dont have the time to devote to a project like this, and I am going to dissassemble the engine and put it back to stock.
A hard decision to make, with so much effort (and of course $$) already invested, but it seems like the only reasonable course of action. I dont want a 5 year project, and this one is already at 1.5 years. Also in the event we have to move, i need the car in one piece.
Here are the final pictures of the motor with the supercharger installed.
Right after this I dissassembled the motor and put in a set of stock JE pistons.
If anyone is interested i'll have an SoK supercharger setup for sale pretty soon. (as soon as I get my motor back in and running and I get a chance to organize and take pictures of everything)
There would have been a fair bit of work yet, I needed to make up a proper idler bracker for the a/c side, size the main belt, drill the rear frame member and route the accelerator cable, handle the issues around removing the rear blower motor, put on the RS pulley setup onto the alternator, install a boost gauge, etc etc etc.
But yes you are correct I was well along the path to having it done.
