No worries guys- my pleasure. All for one, and one for all- and all that crap.

Please just make sure you PM me (not email or post here) both your name and email. I haven't rec'd a PM from all on here who posted that they were interested. By midnight tomorrow, I take it that those who haven't are effectively passing.

One thing guys and I think Greg mentioned this. The Steve Wong chip has not fixed the LWF stalling issues for Greg. So don't assume he can fix this if you have one. I have talked with Steve on the subject via e-mail but I am not totally convinced he knows what to do on this subject. Give him a try though if you have one and please report back the results.

Steve,

He did offer to me that Greg (and possibly others) need to do a reset with a Bosch Hammer and the DME will learn the new settings. The chip in of itself is not the cure to the problem, but to borrow a medical term; should do no harm.

I suppose the point is if you have a LWF and are stalling, the chip may or may not help this solve this problem, but should not make it worse ( and should provide other benefits). And if not as advertised- send it back.

Well, he did tell me when I inquired about buying the chip that it is designed to solve LWF stalling issues. But he also told me that it may require a reset with a Bosch hammer in some cases.

I spoke with Steve Wong today and he gave me some things to check on and test before resorting to a DME reset with a hammer. I'll check it out and we'll see how it goes. He is very good at providing after the sale tech support.

He also told me that based on my description of the temperature and lack of airflow conditions while it was on the dyno that it is probably actually reading about 10 hp lower than it would at 72 degrees F with good airflow.

I'm very tempted ... but I know that I already have a non-stock chip (the stock chip is in the glove box). I suspect it's an Autothority, but am not sure. Is there an easy way to tell what sort of chip you have without opening up the box and looking (quite a task I see from looking at Steve Wong's site)? Perhaps with ScanTool? There are three numbers available in ScanTool:

Serial Number (mine is 96461812400)
Bosch Number (mine is 0261200473)

and the third number: 1267356278

Is this third number a chip ID?

Loren is hostile to all performance chip discussions - that's nothing new. BTW, I've been posting on Rennlist since 2000; I'm hardly a newbie (I changed my screen ID when I changed jobs in 2005).

Anyway, how do we go about buying the chips? Do we e-mail Steve Wong, identify ourselves as group buy participants, and then Steve can cross-check our names against David's list?

Thanks again to David for organizing this.

Thats pretty much it. I'll post the details tomorrow.

FWIW- I plan to do a base dyno pull with stock chip, then after with the new chip, then a third with a custom chip. I'll post the files here when I do (next month or so).
