Default 100 Cell Cats

Any one have any experience with these? Seems like a pretty good price.

Id never thought i would say this but that cat looks really sexy :-)

But pointless if yours i working ok, im not sure what emissions regulations are in other countries but here in the UK our 964's can get away with a cat bypass which is far far cheaper.

For that money i would want oxygen coming out the rear of my 911.

Wow, if a cat with fewer cells gives you 12 more horsepower, imagine how much extra hp my cat bypass must yield.

I saw that to. Even as a standard replacement it seems like a great deal. Looks like a fair upgrade to me.

A decent sports cat should give you very nearly the same power gain as an decat. HOWEVER, it has to be a good one and this is very cheap! Their products have come up on this board before and the advice was to be cautious. The issue is that nobody could tell whether these were cheap chinese copies or properly engineered exhaust systems. If it is the first, you could be buying a whole heap of hurt.

I have looked at this too. Not sure if my car still has the original cat on it. How can you tell if a cat needs replacing? What is the normal life span?

Thanks.

The price may be good, but 100 cell sucks.
I vote bypass.

I agree but in states like NJ and others they check for cats not only during emissions tests but on highway check points. I had an officer climb under my car in full uniform to check to see that I still had mine. Couldn't tell if it was the right one for the car but it was there and he was satisfied otherwise it is a $1000 a year fine back dated to the anniversary of your last inspection which may be up to 2 years prior so a max of $2000 fine not to mention points on your license for driving a car that does not pass emissions tests and is technically not street legal.

I say 100 cell cat is worth it.

Anthony, I had a catbypass emissions friendly, due to a ceramic interior.
It was not cheap but passed the emissions. And the sound was great.

Not familiar with this any more info? To be honest the car can pass emissions without the cat. My C2 came in so clean it was ridiculous 125 % cleaner than the required amount far better than most '07's only 10ppm CO and about the same HC. Lately they have been cracking down and doing a visual check regardless if the car passes or not. If it says CATALYST equipped on the emissions sticker the car must have a cat here in NJ whether it passes the dyno sniff test or not. Stupid rules being enforced by mindless drowns.

I'd be surprised that a visual inspection by someone unfamiliar with Porsches specifically could detect whether it was a bypass or an actual cat. The bypass is a fat looking pipe shaped kind of like a cat with an oxygen sensor sticking out of it. Its not like they will unbolt it to look inside for cells.

You have a valid point and I have been able to point out the heater boxes to people and convince them the cat was inside on my earlier SC using 74 exhaust no cat.

Although a valid cat should have a plate on it stating it is a cat. I have a 100 cell dansk cat and it has a plate on it saying catalyst. The officer seemed to be educated on what a cat should look like. He made mention of how Porsche owners try to pull a fast one by claiming their bypass pipe was a cat and knows better. They also have a data retrieval system in their cars with 20 " LCD screen that can download pictures of factory exhausts if needed. This guy was rather thorough.

Then again you can always gut your cat and they could never figure it out.

I have had a 100 cell cat on my us cup for 3 years. I have it on there to pass NY inspection ... so I can drive to get gas when at the track I think it works well and is on par with cat bypass.

I'm sure it was the 964 sports/race catalyst bypass from Dansk.
