1991 964 C2 a/c heater controller?
Hello all,
I'm having some issues w/ my a/c heater controller (i think that's what its called). AC will blow cold for 30 sec then turn off, heat will not work, etc.
Anyway, I took it into Porsche and they told me I needed a new a/c heater controller, and that the part cost (gulp) $1500.
questions:
1) what is the official name for this part?
2) does anyone know its part number? I want to try and find a used one or one that I wont need to sell a child for
3) if anyone happens to know of one, can you let me know?
thanks!

The official name for the item is the "climate control unit" or CCU. Before replacing the CCU, you should do some troubleshooting. The servos are more likely to fail than the CCU. See http://porsche964.co.uk/technical/servos.htm. On my "new" 964, I was getting heat constantly. I found that I had two defective servos. I was able to fix one and had to replace the other. This saved me approx $200.
If you find that the CCU is defective, you can have them repaired. Contact http://www.ottosvenice.com/ (no affiliation).
I hope this helps.

I'll do you one better....bypass Otto's and go right to the source.....all Otto's and other do is send them out for repair to a company in LA. The name escapes me right now......but if you wait until tomorrow I'll get it from my file at the office and post it here. I've used them before and they are great.
FWIW....up here in Canada that part is $2,200 CAD + tax......at dealer cost.....retail is $2,500 + tax.

I needed this part last year and I purchsed one from Dan P. at Cars Inc. He had a few new units that he purchased from a Porsche parts dealer that was closing out its inventory. He sold me a new one for less than half the list price. His telephone # is 609-298-2277.
