Default Stainless Steel roll bar

I would to install a stainless roll bar in my 964 like the ones for the 04 and 05 GT3's. I think they mount to existing points in the car so no drilling required. Does someone make one like this for the 964?

Tequipment does not make a roll bar for the 964 body. The brushed aluminum finish is only avaliable though them. Otherwise you will have to go with a steel bar like DASport or Autopower. DASport is the only one that bolts into the existing seat belt harness locations. It does require the removal of the rear seats. Autopower welds in and is more obtrusive.

I just picked up a DAS sport bar for my C2 and it is rather nice albeit pricey. They do require the removal of the rear seat as Craig stated. They need to be painted and you might be able to have it powder coated to give you the look you want. I would suggest padding if you plan on using the car for the street. They are really meant to be used with a helmet and if anything happened you can crack open your skull if you hit into it without protection.

Roll bars should be padded for the track too. Anything within a 12" of the driver or passenger's body/head should be padded. I use SFI rated padding and not simple foam.

Especially pad it if you also drive the car on the street - nothing worse than knocking your noodle against a steel bar - ouch! Wear a helmet and hitting against the bar... not too bad!!

Not really. Friend hit his head with helmet on his bar at the races and after big time trip to the hospital he is out of racing forever.

i think last time I saw DA Sport bar it was 800$ USED!!! Autopowers are much cheaper. Why do they have to be welded in?

Autopower also makes a "bolt-in" bar but you have to drill the holes (12 of them).

DAS Sport is sold by CDOC. It's the only completely bolt-in solution. I love mine, it was relatively easy to fit and you can install it by yourself.

Chris M. recently asked to see how my Autopower was installed, so here are some pics (and, yes, I know the interior could do with a good cleaning):

Welcome!

Driver's footwell. There are plates underneath the car which mate up to the cage's feet ... sort of like a rectangular four-hole (or three-hole) washer.

Rear footwell

Wheel arch. You can cut around the padding but I just removed it and then covered the area with some wool felt. No petroleum-based fabrics, please.

The rear section.

How about those massive rear speakers?

Since I race in a PCA stock class, I can only remove interior parts which would facilitate cage installation. And while I might be able to argue for their removal, my car is actually a little light (don't look, Colin!) so I could use the extra mass. Right now, it weighs about 2,950 lbs dry--and that's with a cage and spare!
