He had me up until he said his customers can call him any time to remove bird droppings!

Wow... What a slick video... And a new way to apply wax!

As said in the Concours forum, he might be a better marketer than a detailer. I trust Anthony's opinion on these things....

This guy was featured in the UK Porsche club magazine last month, he plies his trade in the Southeast UK around London and is undeniably good but £5,000???????

I got essentailly the same process in the North of the UK, on a recommendation from sal965 for £200, still not cheap but the guy did spend 10 hours on the car including a machine polish, it now takes me an hour per month to maintain the finish. The wax used was Zymol Vintage.

I guess if you can afford a Veyron you almost WANT to spend that much on valeting!
Cheers,
Kevin.

If he can carve out a living like that, well bloody good luck to him, he offers free advice to anyone who asks on the Pistonheads forum, and is never anything less than courteous.
Pictures do not do polishing justice, the only way to compare is side by side, so the camera does indeed lie, Ask any of the guys who've had the work done, and they've nothing but praise, even though they are hardly likely to admit it as being a big mistake.
If people want to pay that for someone to detail their car, I'm not going to criticise, it's their hard earned.

I have to admit that I've never used Zymol, but I thought that's how you were supposed to do it!! I keep hearing that it's the heat from your hands that allows it to work.

Hmm - I just wonder about the "it's harder than concrete" statement - how exactly is it harhder than concrete?

Rob,

I think there is a lot of marketing hype in that piece. My guess is that he was told to emphasise the cost of everything - quite how the use of a £60 "specially imported" bucket influences the outcome of a car wash truly beats me.

The "harder than concrete" statement seems at odds to the suggestion that it can last for 6 months. If it were truly harder than concrete I would expect it to fend off stone chips as well as lasting a lot longer than 6 months.

The whole key to the piece was the £7000 cost of the wax but they didn't mention that that price covers refills for life. They also didn't go into detail about Paul's willingness to rush off to the back of beyond to wipe off some bird $hit!! I must admit, if somebody had paid me £5000 to clean his car I would probably do it too but I bet it don't come with a £50 wash and brush up!!!

From what I've seen elsewhere Paul obviously does a very good job and I admire him for making a business out of people who must be pretty thin on the ground - I'd certainly think twice about spending £50 for somebody else to wash my car, never mind his sort of prices.

BTW, I must remember to get some of that Zaino stuff from you Rob - I hear good things about that too!!!

Regards

Dave

Refils for life, but only two a year. Otherwise we'd all be saying, can I have some please....in my slightly less expensive pot.
