Default what do you know?

I know that each time I get the cleaners and waxes and polishes out, my car looks great, but I can never tell if more effort gives more result. I'm still trying to get rid of my very light swirls and can never seem to do so. I started with Meguiars fine cut compound and I can't tell if it did anything. Being the car is black, I'm not sure that I will ever rid myself of the dreaded swirls.

My son took his ACTs this weekend, a few years early, as part of a talent search. He's smart like his old man, and just as stubborn as his old man was at his age (14). He's got plenty up stairs, but no deep desire to use it. I just try to keep him above water till he decides on his own it's worth it.

Might have a buyer for the house; pretty sure they all fell in love with the house. It's a couple from the UK with two girls, age 6.5 and 14. They did a second walk-thru, mainly for his sake. She came thru Friday with the girls, and Sunday was just for him. She didn't even walk thru the first 10 minutes they were here Sunday. Keep your fingers crossed. The new house is coming along nicely. I can start with my low voltage projects tonight.

So what about you; what do you know?

Geoff... Only one way to get rid of the dreaded swirls! It's all in the way you put on and take off the wax. Rub it in with a back and forth motion (from front to back... not side to side!) and take it off in the same fashion. All of this obviously must be done by hand. If you've used a polishing compound or orbital buffer and applied it with the famous Miagi Method of "Wax On - Wax Off"... You may need to start with the polishing compound... But I'd try just waxing it first!

I've had my fingers and toes crossed for a week... It's apparently paying off!

Well, I know that the craftsman 'bolt-off' tool for removing rounded bolts works really really well. Since I was able to get off my rear rotors then I replaced them with a set of frozen rotors to match the fronts I did last week. What a difference they made. Then I went ahead and installed my rear RS adjustable sway bar as I was aching to get rid of some of my understeer since the PCA event at Thunderhill last week. Lastly I finished off with a new set of MPSC's.

I need to take some pics soon, but I am just about done with the conversion of my interior from linen->black, and an RS carpet kit. The seats, bar, carpet, sound deadening removal, stereo removal, and door panels are all done. I just need a new center console and shift boot, and I all all set.

I know I am disappointed in a vendor (and RL sponsor) I ordered a cup pipe from in Feb. Turns out they shipped it to the WRONG address. It was returned to them but they claim I am on the hook for the US$35 shipping charge "because they they had to pay it."

I ordered one from Gert instead -- you'd think the the several thousand in business I have done with them this past year they'd refund me the shipping fee!

I'm not naming any names but I'll be throwing a lot of my business elsewhere from now on - I hope they are happy with the decision their customer service rep. made. No, I did not pursue it up the ladder as I don't have time to play 'phone tag. It is not the $35, it is the principle!

I learned over the weekend how to installed coilovers and shocks. Gary R. and I installed H & R Coil Overs and Eibach shocks yesterday ... a leisurely 4 hour task (couple of beer breaks in between tasks).

kgorman ... I am hoping that you will convey your experience(s) in installing the RS Carpet set and post some pictures of the final product. Where did you get the RS Adjustable sway bar ?

marc ... amazing how some people can be so STUPID and not see the larger picture. To lose $1000s of dollars of potential income over a $35 shipping fee ... amazing. Not sure if you want to let us know who you had the problem with so we can avoid the same possible problem.

All i did was drive my car this weekend. Still have a PS leak in the back but havent felt like messing with it. No work or problems otherwise. Learned that carrying, mixing and pouring 10- 80# bags of sakcrete is best left to a younger back
Good luck on the house Geoff

I learned that the spray paint I have for my wheels (Wurth - Silber)is a PERFECT match to the car paint, Metallic Silver "code 980". It's even a far better match than the touch-up paint from Porsche, at $14.00 a container.

I know we have had enough rain here in NorCal this year... yet it continues.

Those driveways are insane. Are the streets below sea level? There must be a reason...
Fun for kids though... I can think of many ways to get hurt or do damage on those slopes.

Well after 40 days with no rain it finally came in the middle of the nite saturday nite. Was some pretty loud lightning and about 1 1/2" of rain. It had cleared up by early sunday morning. That was a record for no rain here
The speed of this site today is bad

Snowbird,

Is that driveway pic a joke? I know that my last drive in downtown Seattle left me enjoying the smell of my clutch each time I had to stop on a steep hill. I'm no novice with a clutch however the car is simply not geared for high torque departures. Anything that'll do 40+ in first gear is not likely a good candidate for hill climbs.

Gert has almost reached mythical status on Rennlist, last time I talked to him he was talking about his new shop. I'll try to stop by there one of these days and have a look what he's like in real. Pretty happy that a local guy has been able to build such a reputation overseas.

Marc- this sucks...for you and them. They obviously haven't been following your "project" list or they would have never treated you that way!

Slappy-
a leisurely 4 hour task
4 hours!?? Man if I thought it would only take 4 hours to change out my suspension then I may have already done it by now. You have a lift?

I did my first autocross on Sunday. Pretty fun but a lot of time spent for about 3 minutes of driving. First DE coming in June hopefully.
