Best Handling Cars You've Owned/Driven
Out of curiousity, what are the best handling cars everyone out there has owned or driven? I consider my 964 to be the best I've had, but what else out there comes close? I'm thinking in terms of stock cars, not cars that have been modified.

My Boxster with Gemballa HR coilovers and Shock towers, I wish it had an extra 100hp Unmodified??? I think it is still the Boxster, but I hear the Lotus Exige and Lotus Elise are the best handling cars (showroom stock).
The 964 with "US" Stock suspension compares to a Citroen 2CV I personally think that the suspension is the first thing every 964 owner shoud upgrade to at least lowering springs or better to coilovers.

Lancia Delta Intergralle 89 in black metallic. Had it for a year of total mayhem, fun and a big overdraft to fix it when it went bang.
But what a year, it would eat the lotus for breakfast and crush the boxter without even breaking sweat. This was a lot of fun when they crusied by looking at it and then found me sat behind them flashing lights for them to get out of the way - straight or curved roads made no difference.
Funny story, doing about 70 down the parkway with two mates in teh car when this renault 5 comes past. Its all sported up, big pipe out the back and has clearly been breathed on. Mates say go on catch him up. This renault really shifts, light weight with hand grenade motor so we are not covering ourselves in glory at this point.
Then we hit a big round about at the end of the parkway, LOL I went around the outside of him with m y two mates waving at him. He was sweating bad at this point, so funny.
4 door and hatch boot. I would buy another one tomorrow if I could afford it.
I love that car, like a very naughty mistress it cost way too much to run!.

Best handling was my '74 914-2.0. That said, if it had the 3.6 from my 964, then it could have been the best all-around car.

Yeah, the 914 4cyl (1.6vw) or 6cyl (2.0 por) were fantastic!! And you could get your hands on the mid-ship engine!!.. I still remember that big monster tach in the center dash!! The removable roof, etc... A super go-cart at give away numbers, bring back the ‘70’s!!!!!
Nice one,
Marc

1976 930 - fully-modified GT class car. 2100 lbs, full race suspension/cage/custom 17" fuchs. 500 +/- bhp. If it were my car, I'd require the passenger to wear a dyper : )
As far as MY cars go, I'd say my nicely set up 85' carrera. My C2 should be better than the 3.2 once I beef up the suspension. My Boxster S was EASY to drive, but was not NEARLY as fast as either 911 on the track. I do miss those huge brakes (and the ability to abuse the hell out of them).

I agree with the Bmw 2002 and even 3 series I've owned. Hate to admit it but twin turbo Nissan 300Z car (mid 1990s I believe) was some kind of stuck to the road. Still getting used to 964 which is the most exciting car I've ever driven but it's still teaching me how to drive.

Top Gear / Jemery Clarkson did a program with Top F1, Rally and Touring car champions.
They drove a range of cars. Ferrari, Porsche. BMW etc, all the Top Marques.
They agreed the best Handling car was ......................................Peugeot 106!
Sorry! correction the Ferrari 550 just beat the Peugeot!

Definitely my Evo VIII. I can do things with one finger on the wheel in this car that I would barely be able to pull off in the 964 with much more effort.
As soon as I drove it, my Audi A6 was history and I welcomed a new and much improved grocery getter to the family. My first Asian car too and I couldn't be more impressed with it. Not just with sunny dy driving, but I feel that the Evo's AWD system (with the active center diff, and the active yaw control) is even better than my last two Quattro's in the snow--though I haven't had too many chances to try it out this winter since there hasn't been much snow.
A few of the closed-minded people that I know hate it because it's "rice". Some people say it's ugly, that they hate the highly-fuctional carbon fiber wing, the roofline, or the taillights... but whether they like it or not, the car's entire form was built around function, not the other way around, so I appreciate. These same buddies of mine who dogged out my taillights also got really quiet once they started to fall behind during a drive through the Poconos twisties in their Passat W8's, S4's, and M3's.
I'm dead-set on making the VIII my track car once the warranty runs out. And since many of the internals of this particular 4G63 motor are already forged, it's going to be very easy to bring the power up. A simple ECU flash has already pushed HP to 305+, and many people are reliably getting 450-500hp out of these motors without swapping internal parts.
And a picture of it just a couple wks ago.

Euro, we've been tracking an EVO for the last 2 years. Anything that you need to know I can probably help you with. BTW, the best handling STOCK car I have ever driven is the one that I just sold, my GT3 I just hope that the RS America racecar that I'm buying is even better. With full monoballl suspension, 245 & 285 x 18 tires, moton shocks and 350 lbs lighter than the GT3 it should be.

havn't driven my 964 enough to judge it since it is garaged for the winter. Besides I'm planning a suspension upgrade, lowering, corner balancing, alignment, the whole 9 yards this spring. As iit is now, I have high expectations. My other sport cars from best to worse:

93 lexus 300
95 SL 500
