^^^ congrats on one year and a beautiful 964. I will have had my turbo for 16 years on the 30th. Hard to believe it has been so long. Many more enjoyable miles.

BTW when is a 964 part not a 964 part?

This is a 964 tow hook plug. I was at my friend Pino's shop who is reworking the front Bumper of a Carrera GT and we discovered they use the old 964 part on the CGT.
Interesting original owner car never had any paintwork yet we found the front bumper had been painted. ??

Wow! That is a very nice 964!

Been on a quick Nordschleife roadtrip. I was very excited as I am lurking on that track for years now and have driven some of my favorite (LeMans, Dijon, etc) with the 64 but never been to the ring! Asked friends If someone 'd like to share that trip but unfort. nobody could (a lot of them have couple of childs, non fixed 911s or are simply too far away). Also I didn't make it easy as I booked just a month before as I read a new Schnelleschwaben trackday slot opened up!

So what I did is I booked the trackday, booked two nights at the Apex hotel and went by myself on a 1200 Km roadtrip to the Norschleife! I know myself and know I'll be frustrated over winter If I didn't do anything cool with the 964, so here we go!

Day 1: 600km of Autobahn and I am starting feeling my neck and back, as I am too tall for the Pole Positions in the 964, I am sitting on bare Fiberglass without cushions also still feeling the aftermath of a 60km hike tour in our swiss alps. Weather is OK but cold and there are a lot of cars; still make it to try the autobahn with a 240 kmh before I had to brake, car feels still fine on that speed, amazing!

I arrive at 3 PM at Apex hotel, book an instruction lap with Misha Charoudin and off we go! Track is super busy but they can overtake only on the left as it's a toll road on Touristenfahrten days. You pay 30 euro a lap:

People are crazy there, so much different nationalities all in the search of limits and speed. Some with more comprehensive behavior than others Instruction lap is great and makes you feel safe!

Here a shot in the very awesome Karussel:

Day2: THE TRACKDAY! It's raining a lot and pretty cold. Couple degrees less and it would be covered in snow! I'm thinking let people go in the first place, see what they report as the elevation change is pretty big between the highest point of the 20km track and the lowest, so it can rain everwhere but snow at the top or be frozen; who knows, wouldn't be the first time.

After a good Coffe at the devil's dinner and a croissant, I'm deciding to go for a lap or two. The track is pretty wet and it's still pourring, not a lot of cars on the track, whick makes it basically as if you were alone! Two "slow" laps and nobody in sight or behind. Perfect for learning it!

So til the afternoon I've made a couple laps and am much more confident than before. The track is drying up a bit on the "line" but a pretty old fellow gentlemen driver loses his 964 RSR and slams the nose into the armco barriers. Too bad, a steward tells him to continue till the track exit and he sprays oil everwhere on several KMs. Now the track is on yellow and they're putting sand and products on it to make it fine again.

The track seems a bit better, still cold and humid but some lines have dried up a bit. A lot of people jump into their cars and go for a couple laps, one or two more accidents happen though, as the track conditions are still tricky. I'm going out for a couple laps myself but taking good care, the sand is on the line and you can feel the car moving/slipping on all 4 wheels when cornering on sandy spots. Nothing critical at my speeds but I once lost the 964 C4 for a few meters, the PDAS trying to correct but what is there to correct when you have no traction on all 4 wheels? I'm turning the steering wheel like mad trying to correct it and finally get it to stay on the tarmac in the right direction (PDAS at least didn't allow the complete oversteer).

Now I am driving a bit slower to ensure that everthing's fine with the car/tyres and go back at it. Last laps were the best but it was still sliperry and as my back was hurting like hell and my conce ntration falling a tad, I decided to call it a day and enjoy the rest of the event from the paddock.

Day 3: Still raining a lot and 600 km back to my home in express over autobahn, back is hurting, legs are tired but feeling so satisfied!! I am still super slow in comparison to most experienced drivers there but I knew it would take a lot to learn it perfectly and also knew my 964 is not a track-prepped car so it won't perform anyways.

If you want to see couple short fragments of the laps I'll upload a couple on my instagram: @n1ne11 Sorry for those who know that place already like their pocket (I know there are some!).
